I've been working on a load for 240 gr coated lead SWC for my new Redhawk 44 mag with 5.5" barrel.
Been using BE-86 and Herco with good results from both.

With my old eyes and open sights I was happy to get 3" groups at about 15 yards.
With the BE-86, I settled on 11.3 grs, which gave me about 1205 FPS ave. I was surprised it was that high.
With Herco I settled on 10.0 grs, which gave me about 1120 FPS, again I was a bit surprised by the high velocity.
Recoil from both was pleasant. I just thought I would pass this along in case it may be useful to anyone.

On the outing to test, I shot around 50 of these loads, when I got home I saw what I thought was leading in the barrel. Now I'm not sure it was lead because it cleaned up so easily. Just a few strokes from a nylon brush and Hoppe's 9 and it was gone.

I use 240 coated SWC from Bayou bullets @ .430". Here are some of my most accurate loads.
From a 6½" 629 Classic:
9.6 g of Shooters' World Ultimate Pistol with CCI 300 primers
From a 4" 29-2:
10.2 g of Ramshot Silhouette with Federal F150 primers

I'm curious about the velocity of that load. Have you shot over a chrono?

Do not repeat this load data...load at your own risk!

Ok...with that said, I've loaded up some seriously hot boys with some Missouri Hi-Tek coated "44 Keith" projectiles (all data from my 7.5" Super Redhawk):

24.5g of H110 produced an ave of 1508 fps
22.4g of 2400 produced an ave of 1614 fps

Both of those were seriously hot loads...I'll never load those again. The 2400 load was a serious hand slapper. Funny enough, they didn't cause me any issues.

I shoot 240mbc with that load from my SBH, and get just under 1500 from mine and just over from my buddies....I like it.

For lighter loads I used 11.5-12.5gr of Longshot for 1200ish.

I'll try some of the other suggestions in this thread be-86 shows up cheap sometimes

I've been playing with 2400 and those projectiles. I can take it down quite a bit where H110 is known not to be under loaded. 19g of 2400 produces a nice, magnum load. 11.7g of Unique was also a big winner making an ave of 1337 fps from the same SRH. I'ts on par with other middle of the road factory 44 mag loads. For reference, I chrono'd a 240g SJSP Fiocchi factory load and it produced an ave of 1251 fps.

In short...I've been goofing around a lot with this Missouri 44 Keith...
