It’s not every day that I promote some random guy I saw on YouTube, and I won’t make it a habit. But this shotgun and its owner are worth it.

Abner Miranda, who seems to be a professional house-raider of some sort, has worked out every detail of turning an 870 into an “I swear I don’t even know it’s there” mid-range-to-door-breech carry piece that you carry AS A BACKUP to your rifle.

Note the short stock.

He says he runs it with zero lube. It is nickel-boroned. Can such a thing be possible?

Around 15:00 he shows the full two slings rifle+shotgun rig.

While nickel boron and even titanium nitride coatings are very slick, I would still use some type of lube.

I know a different use/environment but we use to use both to coat metal stamping die punches to stamp holes in steel and always used some type of lube/coolant mixture to keep the coating from wearing off or the steal from galling/sticking to the punches.

Won't comment on that shotgun setup (or its use...) but that pretty bandoleer isn't very practical at all if you actually intend to wear it off and on as needed while the rest of the time it rides in a vehicle and collects the usual dust and dirt (not to mention having to do the low crawl while wearing it...).

Here's what I came up with many years ago to keep my spare rounds clean, dry and ready to go... It's nothing more than an M16 bandoleer meant for 20round mags... Take standard boxes of five round 00buck or slugs, cut out the bottom of each box, then insert the open end into the mag holders... You can tell at a glance exactly what each pouch contains by a glance at the label, pull the cardboard box leaving the rounds in the pouch until needed... On any hot call that might involve ending up in an exchange of fire you're ready to go..

This bandoleer is a copy of the original bandoleer from the Vietnam era that I kept with me in my patrol car all those years ago. The original was a much lighter material...

That same bandoleer rolled up to compact it then into a standard plastic grocery bag so it's not very noticeable at all - until needed.

I found this setup very practical - thank heavens it was never needed on the street where being out-gunned down here in the cocaine wars era was a very real possibility...

I think that bandoleer tells us about all we need to know. If your plan requires a full dive-weight belt of 12 gauge slapping you around every time you move, you probably needed to stay in the APC and hose the objective with the roof-mounted Gatling gun.
