Help, failure to feed

Probably no help...but my XDs won't run any type, any brand of SWC cast or coated. Whether it plunks in a case gauge, the XD barrel, or runs in 5 other 45's I have. It is a picky picky picky gun.

I didn't know that XD's were that picky, I have had less trouble out of my CZ's which are notoriously tight and picky

Now see, that's funny. I have maybe a dozen CZs in several calibers from a WWII Occupation pistol, to my EDC, a P01. Every one of them eats anything I feed them. My XDs is by far the pickiest modern handgun I own. I tolerate it because it runs 100% on what I carry in it, and because it's only purpose in life is to be my carry gun when mountain biking (falling on hammers sucks, and nobody cries over a smashed croatian glock).

I concur, my P09s run like well timed machines. Thinking about trading this XD in for a CZ 97B.

Like mentioned above, SWC shoulder is catching rim of case trying to be extracted. Ive had this happen too. Solved the problem by burning the ammo up in my Colt 1911, it ate em all up.
I've had zero issues with Round nose/ or JHP bullets in these.

Yes sir 20210926_221648.jpg , and heres the proof. Don't really know any way around it. Just discovered this round that was second in the mag.

Let me know how an FTF and an attempt to Tap, Rack and Bang goes.....probably won't happen.

Seat the bullet out further to where there is more shoulder exposed to soften the transition.
In fact . . . seat it out as far as it will continue to "plunk" fully home and let us know....

This may also make it worse, the longer OAL.
The rounds sit in the magazine at an upward, nose-up attitude. If the shoulder is that much higher, might make the problem worse......but, just speculating, it may correct it...

try a different magazine before you give up on that gun. the mag feed lips may be wrong.

luck,

murf

My PX4 in 45 dislikes feeding SWC's.
My HK45 has no problem with them, in or out.

I fought with SWC's in that PX4 for quite some time, never did get it where I wanted it.

Thats is about as far out as it will safely go

You need another bullet for that that gun. I have an XD45 and the Lee LT452-230TC works great. It also works great in my ancient AutoOrdnance 1911 which is ultra finicky about ammo (feeding). It chokes on SWC's unless they are seated to the perfect length. These work great. I now PC them.

Too bad about your XD not liking swc bullets. A 200gr swc is by far my favorite bullet design for the 45acp. I've shot countless 1000's of them in 10+ firearms chambered in 45acp over the decades.

Ive got this on order. I have this same bullet in 9mm amd it is great Screenshot_20210926-223402_Chrome.jpg

KYregular, move away from that SWC and all your issues will magically disappear.

If you do not believe me then go visit the XD forum. w/o sending that gun out for alterations you will do nothing but struggle to shoot SWC in it. That mold you have on order should work very sweetly!

The diameter has to fit the barrel throat. .451" OR seat the bullet lip flush with the case mouth.
No, that won't help OP's problem with XD45 with flat slide rib.

OP's issue with XD45 not extracting spent case due to case rim hitting SWC shoulder is well documented.

No amount of manipulation with SWC bullet will resolve the issue until bullet type is changed to RN/RNFP.

Springfield fixed this issue with XDm slide rib that is angled down to push on the top round in magazine so extracting spent case rim will clear the SWC shoulder.
