My Creedmoor TRX 925 arrived today. This will be my scale for target rifle loads. My Chargemaster will go back to its primary duty of dispensing loads for pistols and revolvers.

Funny, but I've been using an RCBS Chargemaster since the early Aughts, but it has only been the last couple of weeks that I've even thought to look online for best practices with that scale/dispenser. As a self-taught reloader, there are a number of things I didn't know about the Chargemaster that could improve accuracy and speed of powder disbursement. For example, I picked up an extra straw at Burger King today. We'll see how that brand name substitution works out.

I use my Chargemaster for mostly rifle loads. I tried the straw trick it didn't help at all on the pistol charges but it did help on the stick powders in rifle charges.
Here is a video that may help.

Yes, my dyslexia was running strong yesterday. The TRX-925 arrived yesterday.

As for dispensing, I have Lee cups, a lee powder measure, or most likely, I'll use the charge Master and trickle up on the 925.

Do you think there might be interference, similar to florescent lights? RF is everywhere.

Is it this one?

How will you dispense the powder for rifles, just the powder measure?
I am interested in your findings as they become available.

I've used my chargemaster for 45-70 and 30-06, and it worked fine for minute of buffalo and the 600 yd target for hi-power, respectively. But now that I'm working up loads for 270W (and 6.5 Grendel soon) at 200 yds, I'm noticing an occasional jump in velocity, and it seems to tie to a flyer on paper. Now I'm not saying that the flyers are caused by load variations; they're probably human error. But it gives me a good excuse for a new toy, and I can remove any doubt that it isn't human (my) error.

That was a question I had, is it even compatible with any of the auto setups like that one for beam scales or does it even have input/output features?

Or does it put the OP back to manual trickling?

I have a Franklin Armory manual trickler which should be good for adding a couple decimal grains.

It is indeed nice to find an excuse for new reloading equipment.

AK Hunter. That is a great YouTube video. I've been reloading with a ChargeMaster 1500 Combo since about '05, and I only found out about that video this weekend. I also found lots of other good advice on the High Road his weekend for using the ChargeMaster, such as having it on for 30 minutes before using, keep cell phones and flourescent lights away, minimize breezes, etc.

Congratulations on the new scale.... there are so many factors in reloading a flier could be a lot of things from charge weight to neck tension. They wouldn't be able to sell us so much stuff if it was simple.

I !know! a lot of it is me, but this helps reduce the "but maybe it's ..."

Like my "analytical/lab" scale that changed display reading from magnetic source like smartphone/magnetic tip screw driver, TRX-925 was also sensitive and reading changed from zero to 0.15 gr when my cellphone was near by.

BTW, my TRX-925 review - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-925-precision-reloading-scale-review.904159/

LiveLife; I saw your review last week, and it was a big part of my decision to go with the TRX 925 rather than a different unit. Thank you.

Regarding interference, I guess I will keep the two (ChargeMaster and TRX) at opposite ends of a 6 foot table if I'm using both. Or maybe the best answer is to put that lee powder measure to use that I got for a buck 6 or 7 years ago at a yard sale.

You are very welcome and glad to have helped.

Regarding interference
Higher resolution and sensitive digital scales are more susceptible to environmental factors such as air movement, electro/magnetic fields, uneven bench surfaces, etc. I found while using the TRX-925 with the top draft cover off improved consistency of readings, leveling out the bench surface improved precision of readings. Since finding cellphone significantly affected displayed readings, I now keep ALL sources of electronics away from the scale when in use. I transitioned fully from CFL to LED lights at home and used with overhead LED light along with ceiling mounted LED lights and haven't seemed to notice affects on display readings.

having it on for 30 minutes before using, keep cell phones and flourescent lights away, minimize breezes, etc.
TRX-925 has auto zero and DOES NOT require any warm up typical of other higher resolution digital scales. My "analytical/lab" digital scale zero experienced drift and when I did root cause analysis, I found the source to be from uneven tensioned screws for the strain gauge mount plate. When I retensioned the plate screws, warm up of scale no longer drifted zero - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-scale-zero-drift-and-can-it-be-fixed.893402/

Another reason why TRX-925 is less affected by warm up is instead of small strain gauge mount plate, the entire base and bent back panel is one piece steel hefty enough to not twist/tweak as electronics warms up (Very good design).

I believe you made a good scale choice that goes beyond resolving kernels of Varget to flakes of Unique (As expressed by SSUSA review article) and flakes of Promo as demonstrated by me.

NOTE: TRX-925 has auto-zero feature so if you start trickling after zero/tare, addition of few granules/flakes of powder won't change reading but as soon as you start with higher than zero reading (I started with 0.05 gr), scale will detect addition of granules/flakes to increase reading by 0.01 gr. Reading of trickled powder is fast, not quite instantaneous but fast.
