Who else is a fan of fiber optic sights?

For years, I avoided fiber optic sights. I had read posts by so many people over the years how they broke so easily.

Then I discovered the ones S&W uses on their Shield/Shield Plus series. They have metal spirals that wrap around the rods - protecting them. So, I have them a chance on a Shield 2.0 4" model. I fell in love. They solved my issues of having trouble seeing the dots on the sights. My group sizes decreased with the fiber optic sights.

I then slowly got them on some of my other guns... While the others don't have the protection that the S&W sights do, they are amazing at the range... They fixed the problem of my 50 year old eyes for now. As long as this works, I'll resist going to pistol optics :)

Some of my pistols with fiber optics... (And, I am waiting for another Combat Master to come in anytime now - it will have a front fiber optic sight too)

Fiber-optic sights sure are bright and easy to pick up outside. Unfortunately, they are bright and my astigmatism turns them into twinkling bright stars. It's not easy to aim a twinkling bright star.

I have noticed that I've been struggling to see my tritium sights at my indoor range for a few years. The range is dark, but not dark enough to see the tritium glow.

At age 50, these fiber optics REALLY help me...

This is a target from my first range trip with the new fiber optics on my M9A3. I used 8.5x11" pieces of paper for targets, so the target is pretty small. I was happy with the results. 15 rounds in the target...

All of my Glocks have at least a FO or tritium front, several have FO rear sights, too. Several of my CZ’s have FO fronts, as do four of my Ruger DA revolvers, a couple of 1911’s, the new Colt Cobra and a S&W 317.

They aren’t the do-all end-all. For precise shots they aren’t my first choice, but for almost all other SD-HD uses they sure help me.

Stay safe.

Pretty much all my iron sighted pistols wear F/O front sight with a black rear.

Yet to break one even on my edc CZ pcr and gamer gun CZ shadow 2.

I have fiber optic rods in the front sights of all my "heavy use" pistols and revolvers. I avoid them on my rear sight, preferring an all black rear sight, as I fine them distracting...as they draw my eyes to them...same reason I don't use 3-dot sights

Having you eyes drawn to the rear sight blade slows down perceiving correct sight alignment...not an issue if you're not trying to make accurate shots quickly

Had gone to Dawsons on a couple of P365s; liked the sight picture, but had trouble with the front fiber optic rattling itself loose after some shooting, and I finally went back to the OEM X-rays.
That compact 9 may have an especially abrupt slide motion, which may have been part of the problem.
Do like them for being easy to pick up; even put one on the Gold Cup; concur that black on black is the deal for dedicated target work...but that assumes the shooter is young and sharp eyed enough to use them. :)

Not me, at least on target guns in the daylight. Too bright and too fragile. For me. YMMV.

I have quite a few handguns and long guns with factory FO sights, never had one work loose. I know that's an issue, but either it doesn't happen often or everyone's figured out how to make em. I consider it a nice upgrade in any lighting levels. I have astigmatism too and most of my red dots and reflex sights aren't 'tic tac' sharp anymore but that's never been an issue with fiber optic sights.
There's also quite a few different ways to repair them if the FO comes loose.

When I was still young enough to focus on the front sight I loved them. I still do a bit of practice with them just in case I ever need to pick up a fallen comrades pistol which only has "irons". But If I expect to have any fun shooting pistols it has been red dots for me for many years.

Most of my handguns have FO sights, as I can see them better than iron sights, and I like to think I shoot better with them, but when I look at my shooting results, I don't think FOs really provide me with better results. o_O

I still have a couple of pistols with fiber optic front sights. They are not my favorite. For me the red is about useless. They don't work for me in direct sun or at indoor ranges where it is not well lit. So if I am going to have any fiber optic sights, they have to be usable for me.

Everyone's eyes are different and what works for one might not work for another. Go with what works for you.

I prefer fiber optic over night sights when given the option. Especially if they are factory installed. I haven't had as much good luck adding FO sights as they typically change the POA/POI from where I was hitting with the stock sights. I have also been known to paint over white 3 dot sights with fluorescent nail polishes to give contrast when lining up my sights.

I am not a fan of red front sights. The green picks up light much better

While I don't care for fiber optic sights on pistols, I do have them on some of my hunting shotguns. Green works best for me and is a lot easier to pickup versus a brass bead.

All of my current guns have fiber optic sights on them. All are GREEN. I can't see the Red for some reason they just look the same as black.

I do a lot of shooting at an indoor range and the lighting, although pretty good, is not good enough for me to see my sight on a few of my guns before the fiber optics were installed.

My scores have improved and so has my speed in target acquisition. I've been shooting red dots for almost 30 years but this is my year of the fiber optic and my scores are amazingly close to my best scores with dots.

Almost all are Dawson Precision. Here's my favorite.
