Just bought this carbine, ser no starts with 225, trying to figure out when it was made, some places say 1956 and others 1957, winchester web site says 1956. Also it has a saddle ring, and from what I have read it was discontinued in 1942 as a special order. So has someone added it? see pics also is the rear sight correct?

I can’t see the sights. I know my 1894 carbines (1970’s-1980’s) didn’t have saddle rings. (Wrong side but they’re not there. ;)) My later AE Trapper .44 Mag may have one, I’ll have to go look.

As for the rear sight, the pic makes it tough to tell. A close up of the sides and top of the sight, especially showing the dovetail to see if it looks driven in/out and the sight elevator to see if there is bluing loss from use, would help. :)

Stay safe.
