Ammo Up Or Down After Holidays?

Anyone who "needs to stock up now" for any ammo for firearms they already own is already far behind the curve.
And therein lies the problem with buying into a new caliber weapon. I've been holding off and telling myself don't get into .308, ya got 3 - '06 rifles, one lever and two bolt, but not a large caliber semi auto till now.

I feel you. Was feeling a bit stagnated, been pondering getting back into .44 Mag./.44 SPL (maybe a new Anaconda and an 1894)... but holy crap, there's not much out there now, and what there is, is exorbitantly priced for those of us no longer reloading. On the other hand, for everything I do own, I could supply all the colonies in the Walking Dead series, if it were real (and all its spin-offs) for the next couple generations...

Alliant has priced themselves out. Last week I saw Bullseye for $47.99 a pound. Same store had 4 pounders of Titegroup for $97.99

What happens to prices when a big corporation owns multiple brands (that were former competitors) Anybody?...
You know that’s good point.
And an interesting question, seems like normally they make a wider variety of products at different price point.

Just the second thing to come to mind is.
Pontiac> Chevy> Buick> Cadillac = GM.
Ford> Mercury> Lincoln> Jaguar = Ford

The first thing to come to mind is them tool companies, they’re even worse. You can buy garbage or very good tools all by the same parent company.

Certain cartridges I've had my eye on for the last few months haven't moved in price at all, even as today. But I do expect that things will start to heat up soon and any number of variables can crop up and make it worse, but I definitely don't recommend waiting too long because I don't see it getting any better. Things keep popping up in my news feeds about ammo and components shortages, raw materials, etc....

I just picked up 1K rd case of brass 9mm for $250 shipped and am hoping to grab another cpl cases and a few thousand rounds of .22lr within the next couple months just to exceed my normal reserve min being an election year and all. Who knows though, but my instincts don't usually fail me on this, but certain things make it fairly predictable and obvious

I got a 357 mold for Christmas. Bullets are free now. I have literally a ton of lead waiting to be cast. That’s the only way I was able to get back in 357. Still owned dies from years ago. And cases.

According to one of the online sites I buy from there will be a hefty increase. Of course sales is key so we shall see. One thing to remember there is an election coming this year and we all know what happens. All I buy is 9mm so I have been buying when the price is right. Reloading components for the other calibers I'm good for a long while...

Bulk brass 9mm for $200/1000 in my area. I'll stack it

For brass? Heck I'm seeing $250/1000 for Winchester or Blazer loaded rounds almost everywhere. First load is on them for only 5c/round more!

Yeah I keep seeing the "ammo prices set to soar due to powder shortage". It's always some component shortage couple with panic buying, plus nearing the end of a 4 year term, I expect it will get pretty silly but as always, I purchase enough to see me through and have a set amount that doesn't get used.
