I know there is a contingent of folks on here who like and collect vintage guns and optics like the old blued steel Weavers/Sears and for years I've had this pretty cool Weaver/Sears 4x scope I found when I was digging through a box of giveaway stuff many years ago and scored. I put it on my 10/22 and it's been on there ever since but it's a lil easier for my wife and daughter to use a red dot so I'm thinking of retiring the old 4x and putting it on something else. It's not as clear as it probably once was and has some honest wear but still ready to serve.
My question is would this scope look ghastly on a Henry Golden 45/70 or should I try to find a particular gun to mate it up with. I kind of want a nice used .22lr to find and put it on it but I'm just curious what you guys find to be aesthetically appealing for an old scope like this. I particularly think anything in .22cal with blued steel and a wood stock is most appropriate but I don't have alot of that kind of stuff. Just want to mate this scope to an appropriate gun, what's a good classic host for one of these old weavers, when I see them I just think of the word "Americana" for some reason, just reminds me of the 50's and 60's even though I wasnt alive in those decades.
Suggestions? Perhaps a photo of your favorite pairing?
