Any recommendations on this? I have a hankering for a 3.5” or greater blade length Tanto folder for shop use and occasional carry. I’m looking into the XL Tanto Voyager and the larger CRKT M16 series Tanto. Any other recommendations?

Boker AK47 tanto.
It is D2 steel and automatic.
Shoot! It's put of stock right now.
Maybe go to bladehq and type tanto in the search box and see what you get. You might find just what you want.
Best wishes.

Hogue K320 is available with a tanto blade. Its a nice hefty folder with S30V blade and crossbar/axis lock. I have the drop point version with aluminum handle, and I love it. Have been using it pretty hard for the last month.

Either the large or XL Voyager is an excellent choice. The locks are about as strong as you can get. An added benefit is that they are among the few options in the Cold Steel lineup that still have a hollow grind (thus making them really good cutters).

Benchmade full size griptilian with tanto blade. My favorite EDC blade by far for every day use.

I know that Cold Steel knives don't always get a ton of respect, but the Recon 1 Tanto in S-35VN is a sneaky good blade. Can be found on sale often (check Midway), for a lot less than a Benchmade, and especially if you're a man of principle and don't care for Benchmade's politics or its overpriced blades, it's a decent knife with better steel than the CRKT at a good price.

I have the XL Tanto, it’s cool but too big for pocket carry, almost a novelty. Also R.I.P. pockets

I bought one of the cold steel knives a few years ago. Once I got it, I started laughing.

I didn't realize from the picture and description how big the knife really was. As much as I liked it, it was just to big and I have big hands.

Just remember that about big folders and how they sit in your pocket. It might be enough if it's in a pack, maybe to big in your pocket.

I have a large Voyager clip point I carry now. I was just after something with a Tanto style blade. I think a similar size would be fine. Since it’s not for work carry, even larger would be ok. Most places I work have a 3” blade limit.

That Recon looks like what I'm after. 4" blade? I'm not really a fan of S35VN, but it won't disqualify a good design.

Yep, like Goldilocks ...the 4" blade is too big but makes a great camp knife but not for EDC. The answer was the 3" blade which is just right but which is no longer available...they offer a 2" which I have not tried. I have both the 4" and the 3" and you can see the use I have given the 3" which is my EDC.

Yep, 4" blade. So not legal in some cities (and states). But for the price, and the quality, it's a good blade for out in the woods or on the trail when you don't want/need to carry a fixed blade.

The blade on the XL tanto is almost 6 inches… that’s why I said it was too large for pocket carry. 4” blades are probably OK for a lot of people. My personal EDC is 3” and yes I know there’s a joke there somewhere.

I know Cold Steel has produced 6 to 8 different versions of a tanto folder over time. My Recon1s are some 15 years old....they have several versions but not this one.

We share the joke......I think. (LOL)

Don't forget about the Kershaw Blur, I bought one of these when they hit the market.

Wish it was in a color other than purple, came in CTS-BDZ1. I wish I kept it but a guy a work with saw a picture of it and wanted it more than I did.

I had one of thes and let it go. I wish I hadn’t. If they’re still available they skip to the top of the list.
If you like the griptilian that much you really should look at the Hogue. I think its a better knife than the benchmade. Their version of the axis lock has a very positive and precise feel to it. The 320 has a very similar style/feel to grip and can be found cheaper than most benchmades.

My vote is Emerson CQC-7B
