Whats your pick for vibratory tumbler?

So here's my 3 year old Frankford Arsenal tumbler, it's seen what I would say is average use. Probably 7K-(ish) purchased un prepped cases of 1K, that I process in batches of 200 to 300 at a time.
Various calibers of the usual suspects, and some not so usual, go shoot 2-300 of a couple different caliber, come back and process them again adding as needed for loss from previously processed ready supply.

I noticed bits of blue plastic in the sifter so upon investigation I found the molded in nut at the bottom of the lid holder had lost it's plastic, not a big deal unless the brass insert comes out.
The thing that's the issue is where the three "feet" are molded into the outside of the bowl, have stress cracked the bottom of the bowl and will eventually rip right out.

I contacted Frankford arsenal well over a month ago and an automated case number was generated. I was not expecting any warranty, only if I could buy a new bowl that's all. I've emailed weekly ever since with no response what so ever and I need a tumbler.

So the question(s) is what tumbler do you have, and how long have you had it, and how much and used it? At this point I'm thinking maybe not another Frankford unit.

Unless there's a better option I think I'll get a Harbor Freight unit, I took a look at it and its made and designed much better, with a heavier plastic less flimsy bowl.

When I first started reloading, one of the few things I did right (and this was pure beginner's luck) was to get a Thumler UV-10. It was years before I even knew what I had, as the thing had been rebranded by a reloading manufacturer, but it's been in use for more than 30 years without a hiccup.

I have used two Frankford Arsenal and Cabelas/Berry's vibratory tumblers.

While Berry's tumbler bowl capacity is 1000 9mm cases, FA tumbler bowl capacity is 600 9mm cases. So you have been overloading your FA tumbler bowl - https://www.amazon.com/Frankford-Arsenal-Quick-N-EZ-Vibratory-Separator/dp/B001MYGLJC?th=1

Despite max bowl capacity, what I found is overloading the bowl slows down the vibratory cleaning/polishing action. I usually fill the bowl with media about 1.5" below the rim and keep adding brass until tumbling action just starts to slow down a bit to maintain cleaning/polishing action. So my "practical" bowl capacity is around 600-800 9mm cases for Berry's tumbler and 400-500 9mm cases for FA tumbler.

HF vibratory tumbler has smaller bowl than FA unit and is very loud. I would highly recommend Berry's vibratory tumbler (Made in USA with lifetime warranty/3 years on motor) which is much quieter with larger bowl capacity yet has strong tumbling action (It will clean range brass with walnut media in about 15-20 minutes, clean enough to reload or 1 hour in corn cob media for mirror polish).

Natchez has Berry's 400 kit #1 for $77 (Tumbler, media, polish, 5 gallon bucket, pan case sifter) - https://www.natchezss.com/400-cleaning-kit-pan-sifter-jf39185

Berry's 400 kit #2 for $88 (Tumbler, media, polish, rotary sifter that fits over 5 gallon bucket and very quick and effective) - https://www.natchezss.com/berrys-400-vibratory-tumbler-kit-2

What I meant to get across was that i buy 1K at a time and process them. It is, or should be obvious to anyone that you cannot tumble 1K at a time.

Without trying I don't think the bowl would even fit 1K of cases unless they were .25ACP, let alone with enough media to do the job.

Come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever even had the bowl over 3/4 full of brass/media.

I like my RVBS Tumbler. if anything ever breaks or fails to work they replace it, no questions asked, Love their customer service. It is the only one I have ever used but it works everytime.

My oldest is a Midway 1292, newest is a ~20 year old Dillon CV-2001.

They have probably had more than average use but probably more than average maintenance. Both switches were removed from their circuits years ago, replaced with run timers.

Looks like I could get a free new replacement for that old Midway.

Wonder if that liability was when they branched Frankfort?

Thumler's now makes vibratory units of excellant quality ( they were made in the USA ... I hope they still are .)
They carry 3 models for the hobbiest and a line of Commerical / Industrial models if you want Top of The Line Unit .
Check them out at www.thumlerstumbler.com

I have a 50 year old Model B rotary tumbler I started out polishing rocks with ... it got re-purpoised to polishing brass ... 50 years old and the only thing I replaces was a rubber drive belt ...
I'm still polishing brass with the model B but using Dry walnut shell polishing media ... I didn't care for the water mess and case drying ... the Thumler just keeps on keeping on !

I bought the FA in 2009 to replace my very old Lyman tumbler. I use it monthly on average but when I use it I keep it filled for two to three days running. I rarely put it more than 300 cases at a time, mostly .38/.357, .44Spl/Mag, or smaller, and dump it out when not in use. I have not seen any wear, definitely not what you described, but that could either be luck of the draw or a change in materials between then and now.

I would probably replace the FA with another Lyman or similar if I had to pick. Those are the only other dry brass/case tumblers I have experience with.

I had a Dillon CV2000 tumbler for 20 years when the motor died. The sleeve bearings in the motor wallowed out. There is no replacement motor available. The bowl is still in very useable shape.

I bought a Harbor Freight 18lb tumbler to replace the Dillon. I bought 40lbs of uncleaned 9mm range brass and cleaned it in 4 equal batches using walnut media. It did a good job. IT is heavy, making it hard to dump. It is quieter than my Dillon tumbler which I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. Is it quieter because it is less energetic/powerful than the Dillon? I also don't know if I will get 20 years out of the HF tumbler.

Thumlers appear to be completely unavailable ...everywhere... with no E.T.A. or backorder. One rock tumbling supply place says "supply issues" with motors and other parts.

In the meantime, Berrys caught my eye with the 500 model. Detachable bowl would be a nice feature. But wait Basspro has one and it looks suspiciously familiar...

Berrys $86.99
Cabelas/Basspro $64.99 and I can pick it up in store with no additional shipping.

Amazon ? It appears there are several out there (Lyman, Frankford Arsenal).

I have the Cabella's/Berry tumbler now for 20+ yrs. Still works good but the lid has developed a hairline crack in it. I have not used it much in the last 7 since I switched to the FART. I also have a Lyman that is about the same size but is really noisy compared to the Cabellas. One thing is make sure the lid is not vented, some units are. If so you will have haz dust every where.

I use coarse walnut with a tablespoon or so of mineral spirits mixed with equal amount of Nu-Finish makes for little if any dust, fingerprint resistant, faster cleaning. Never have been one to worry about making them new brass shiny, just clean with a little bit of shine is good to go.

Don't believe I'd want a lid with vents in the first place, sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I also have a Midway 1292 that’s probably been used weekly since the mid 90’s, it’s been well worth what I paid for it.

I have 2 of the larger Dillons. I usually run them in 12 hour shifts. I load them at night and reload them in the morning.

If I didn't have the Dillons I would look hard at the Thumlers UV series. This is the first I've heard of them being unavailable. Hopefully they will get their supply line issues under control!

I'll keep an eye on my FA vibe tumbler but in the past 3 years I've done at least 15k 38/357 cases with no problem I'm aware of. I do about 300 at a time. I put it on a piece of cowhide instead of directly on the concrete floor so maybe that keeps it from damaging itself? It keeps the noise down and it stays put.

Thumlers Ultra Vibe 18. Works with or without water. Twice as fast as a rotary but not as convenient to empty as my Model B.

This^^^^^ Really like mine. Super quiet. 20/40 corncob blast media and Dillon media separator works well for me.

VibraShine Vortex, but sadly I don't think they're made anymore, at least not under that brand name. I think mine's 30yo but don't remember. No where near the usage as the OP so it's still in great shape.
