Any one know a link to search Rem 770 serial number?
I can find it for 870s and 700s, but can't seem to find a list of date codes for 770.

Not familiar with that specific rifle. Do they not use the same barrel date codes as all the other firearms made by Remington? I've never seen any data posted where the SN was used to date them. I'd imagine you'd have to call the factory and with Remington out of business and now owned by someone else that may be hard to do.

Nope, date code is different for 770. On 870 or 700, the first letter is month, second letter is year. On this 770 the first letter is M followed by digits. There is no month with M for 700 or 870.

Remington uses a date code stamped on the barrel shank, rather haphazardly, one letter for month, another for year. List of dates is available many places on the internet. I feel sure the 770 uses these same codes.

It does not. It has one letter and then digits. The letter on this one is "M", which was not used for any month.
I have a couple 700's and 870's, thier dates are easy to reference. Not so with this 770.

The date code is not incorporated in the s/n. The code is small numbers stamped near the proof mark on the barrel shank. They can be mistaken for inspection marks.
