Looks like Paul Harrell is coming to the end of his road...

Yeah, I saw that. Tons of traffic on Reddit last week about getting Paul's channel to 1M. Glad they got it, sorry I wasn't able to help additionally...I've been a subscriber for years.

Paul's looking pretty good on his last video considering what he's dealing with.
Make sure you are still subscribed. YouTube has been busy unsubscribing me from various gun channels for the past three weeks.

Some of Paul's earliest efforts (especially those under the Disaster Contingency Specialists moniker), were a little lower in video and sound quality.

And his appearance has changed a bit (love these mutton-chops) and he hasn't always worn his signature shooting jacket:

But the topics have pretty much always been fun and accurate, and his comments completely on-target.

I'll miss his work.

In March of 2006 my wife felt a little peeked. What ensued for the next 6 months fighting pancreatic cancer with MD Anderson in Houston was pure hell. 175lb woman "strong" Tennessee country gal, left us weighing only 87lbs and essentially died of thirst at the end. This one is not pretty and will test everybody in that family. She stayed at home with me till the bitter end. I've been subscribed to Paul's channel for years and I feel for this guy beyond words. Bad things can happen to nice people. An out pouring of good will does help.

Sorry you and she had to go through that. 🙏

Some folks have started a fundraiser for Paul by selling shirts. Roy has said they will be donating the money to cancer research. I'm going to have order a shirt here soon

It appears he has made his last video. There is a written announcement on his youtube page stating: "Due to my medical condition I am no longer able to film presentations in the field. My brother Roy has successfully taken over."

That same post announces that he will do some classroom instruction at a symposium in Oregon in March.

And that was no small feat. Last I recall, he was around 800k+. To pick up 100-150k subscribers in a week or so took a big push by the gun community.

I saw where many of them banded together to reach out the the Reps to expedite the award.

I originally stopped on one of his videos because he was wearing a coat just like the one I wear (mine is from L. L. Bean).

Yesterday I was in a long line at a store when the guy across from me said, “Nice Paul Harrell coat.” By the time the line moved we had decided L. L. Bean could sell a lot of this particular coat if they renamed it as such.

My wife found it hysterically funny that two men would get that wrapped up in a fashion convention. She just doesn’t understand how much us gun guys appreciate Paul!

Very sad what's happening to Paul. He will leave a legacy that is sincerely appreciated by tens if not hundreds of thousands of us. I wish him peace and the very best possible in the time he has left.

His story is one of those things that get you to thinking about how quickly it all may end....

Haven't seen him upload any videos lately, his brother has. I commend the brother for stepping in but he is definitely not paul who has a certain charisma and eccentricity that made him entertaining to watch. I wish the channel well, but you can't just replace people and when people try, it usually fails.

If he's not in his Dress Blues, he should be buried in that jacket. I hope the dude gets a 21-gun salute for his service, and has a joint Army/Marine Honor Guard. Lots of people I would have liked to meet in my lifetime, and he's on my short list.

Damn fine idea. L.L. Bean would sell a ton of coats with embroidered "Paul Harrell" and it would be a great way to honor Paul and help his family financially. Posthumous honors are better late than never, but it would be cool if they did it soon. I wouldn't be surprised if they noticed an uptick in jacket sales as a direct result of his channel, a huge amount of commentary in the comments remark on his jacket and he has alot of followers.

I would buy one. They really are practical jackets for some, massad ayoob wears a similar style coat/vest. They are great for carrying lots of stuff. You can't really walk around with a tactical belt fully kitted in public and remain low vis.....

Anybody ever read the report where Paul had to drill some guy at a neighboring campsite because he turned down an offer to come have a hot dog or a beer or something (can't remember but it was some apparently perceived slight) and the guy walked away without any kind of incident, paul politely declined the offer and then some time later the other guy got in his truck and drove into the campsite paul was sharing with his wife and had the truck oriented in the direction of Paul's wife and he shot and killed the guy.

I think he might have been in one or maybe even two other armed conflicts as a civilian. Paul is definitely not the guy to test your luck with.

A close family member of mine was diagnosed with cancer in September and a small area in the flesh was removed.

It spread so fast and he was gone in just 5 months.

Makes you look at things differently.

Testify brother!

Looking at this photo, would you have picked the fat white guy to outlive the slim, slightly-younger female Asian health junkie?

Cancer exhibits neither justice nor pity.

That was the second member of my family to have been taken by cancer way too early. My SIL was diagnosed while pregnant with twins. She gave birth to a healthy boy and girl and did not live to see their first birthday. She was a multiple marathon runner before pregnancy and always ate way healthier than I was comfortable with. She was 33.

Sorry to go a bit off topic but I have known too many that cancer has taken. I am a big Paul Harrell fan from when he first went mainstream. There are typical YT personalities and then there is Paul.

I remember resisting his videos because he didn’t “look” like a guy I would take advice about firearms from. I was hooked the first video I watched about shotgun slug accuracy.

His blend of dry humor and dead seriousness is very sobering to watch. Boring on the surface but so informative it is entertaining.

A humble mix which is rare on the internet these days.

Yes, he's turned someone's into a canoe.

Everyone dies Some go easy, some go hard, and Mr. Harrell got stuck with one of the harder ways to do it. He is one of the few gun video makers I liked and that is done with now. I have lost 2 family members and a couple of friends to cancer. One uncle was diagnosed with brain cancer and was gone within 6 weeks. I consider him the lucky one as the others suffered for months.
