I have no idea where people even shoot anymore.

It actually seems to me that folks who live either in the big city or in the middle of nowhere tend to have the best shooting opportunities. It's the folks who live in the suburbs - or even "semi-rural" neighborhoods - who have the most trouble.

Ironically, here in rabidly anti-gun California, most of us have good availability. The city-dwellers have indoor ranges nearly everywhere (most of them do allow rifles, although rarely beyond 25 yards) and many of the rest of us are reasonably close to vast tracts of uninhabited desert where just about anything goes.

The trouble is that so much of America consists of places where the neighbors are just a little too close for back-yard shooting to be safe and appropriate, but there also isn't enough density to support a shooting club. I guess if I lived there I'd either move or sell my rifles...

That's because you have no idea what you're talking about and you didn't look anything up. The law literally cannot be more clear:

They even wrote it again in the State Game Land Regs you quoted: (§ 135.41. State game lands.)

So what does that mean?

You cannot target shoot on state gameland unless at an established game commission shooting range and you have a hunting license or range permit

"That means I target shoot in the gamelands, right?"
No, unless at an established game commission shooting range and you have a hunting license or range permit

"Can I target shoot at State Parks"
No, unless at an established game commission shooting range and you have a hunting license or range permit

"Can I target shoot in State Forests?"
No, unless at an established game commission shooting range and you have a hunting license or range permit

"Can I target shoot in 'the strip-pens?"
No, unless you own them (which you don't)

The only place you can target shoot in which you don't own is the Allegheny National Forest, which was aptly pointed out by Simple Shooter:

That's because it's federal land and federal law supersedes state law. <3

Yes, it is. See above.

It's pretty crappy people in this forum are going out into the woods they don't own, blasting away, and telling themselves because they haven't been caught yet that must mean it's legal. You guys are breaking the law.

Worse, they're encouraging other people to do it and they're being cheered on by people who are equally ignorant of the law. You're going to have other members follow your crap advice and get into trouble. Great "community" you guys got here.

Sorry, but In Pennsylvania, this is against the law.

Call an attorney and ask if you don't believe me.
You keep twisting this to fit your narrative or perception of things. Yes, on state and federal lands, you have to follow their rules.

On private property, barring local zoning/ordinance regulations if you need to worry about that, those regs have nothing to do with you. PA is a BIG state with lots of open "private" land and people shoot on a lot of that land, all the time, and can do so to their heart's content. ;)

No, you're just functionally illiterate and willingly stupid.

Yeah, keep encouraging people to commit gun crimes. It's reflects pretty poorly on this forum that this community isn't policing itself better. It's even more sad that taking the high road here has to come from someone who has been on the site less than a day.

You know, I think I'll probably sell my massive collection of mint condition firearms elsewhere. You guys have fun here.

  • Acreage is extremely expensive. I'm regularly seeing 5 ~ 10 acres go for over $200,000.
  • Even if you have the acreage, having a safe backstop and neighbors that are far enough away to safely shoot is a real difficult problem.
I hear that from a lot of people that have had car payments almost perpetually (between them or their wife) at least in the future, with land, you will have something that is of value.

I shoot at my house and our farm mostly these days. Built an 8ft tall 16 foot wide bullet trap to shoot into, out of "drop" material from bridge construction, here at the house.

At the farm I often use pond dams and oxbows caused by erosion as backstops.

Post up a direct link to what you're referring to when it comes to shooting on "PRIVATE PROPERTY" and we can talk about it.

Calling me names isn't doing you any good and Im being nice here, trust me. ;)

I think that this guy is trolling us. He has a massive firearms collection but can't find a place to shoot them? Everybody else in this 4 page thread figured it out one way or another.

No, you're just functionally illiterate and willingly stupid.

C'mon man!
