Now proud to say the Mighty MO!
Hello,

I'm a new AR owner (Bushmaster A2, nothing fancy). And I was just wondering what, if anything, is in your AR's trap (if so equipped)?

And while I'm here. Any tips for a new owner? Things I should absolutely know?

Thanks.

I got a bunch of those airgun cleaning kits back when Otis had them for $1. Came with the pull through rod and patches. That kit, minus the case (which wouldn't fit) is shoved in there, with patches to keep things from rattling.

A front sight adjustment tool, a Mosin Nagant bolt tool (I had a couple, it's flat and makes a great screwdriver), a small bottle of CLP(I used an old eye drop bottle, after I cleaned it first), a toothbrush, small piece of rag and a boresnake.

Get some 55gr ammo and zero it at 50 yards: IBZ

Congrats and good luck with your new rifle! :)

I keep a front sight tool and a trigger pin punch in mine. Both rolled up in a section of black t shirt that has CLP on it for a quick wipe down if needed. Keeps em from rattling around too.

Nothin---only have one AR left with a std stock------all the rest have been converted to skeleton or collapsable configurations.

Bad enough with the spring noise---definitely don't want something rattlin in there too.

A modest rag which wraps up my evil stilleto toothrbush  No rattles, no shakes, but it sure is nice to have some cleaning materials if I ever need them stowed away right there.

Small bottle of CLP, bolt assembly complete, and a spare battery for the Aimpoint. Never had a bolt fail, but I have occasionally had extractors and/or springs go, and in an emergency replacing the whole bolt is faster and solves several potential problems with one, er, shot.

outstanding! most productive use of buttstock space i've seen yet. i keep a borsnake, rag, issue toothbrush and a small bottle of clp in mine. i'm not fond of the otis system because i've had patches come off in the bore and that is very difficult to fix.

i concur. i like federal's lake city xm193, it is m193 55gr ball ammo packaged for civilian use. plenty accurate for social use or punchin' holes in paper. many people recommend the 55gr because of higher muzzle velocity which allows it to reliably fragment at greater range. lake city ammo is affordable if not cheap. i'd advise you not to put wolf through an ar unless you like spending four hours cleaning your rifle. btw does anybody have any experience with the olympic m193?

What is in my AR-15's buttstock trap? Lead. See Nitram68's post. Plenty of weight. There's also some more lead up under the handguards as well. Helps to balance it out to about 13-14 pounds or so no. Yes, it is a match rifle.

Cleaning kit, small pocket knife, springs, extractor, firing pin, and a .22 LR chamber adapter from MCA. That is all wrapped in a clean rag to silence it and to use for patches in an emergency.

I keep an Otis cleaning kit in my buttstock. I use one of those rubber plugs on the pistol grip and keep a pair of earplugs, allen key that fits the carrier key bolts & doubles as a pin punch if necessary, along with my CA AssWeap registration letter. A wrap of electrical tape keeps the rubber plug from popping out.

nothing at the moment... i'm saving the space for the form 4 i hope to have in july...
