I generally carry my 1911 when I go out. And in winter its easy, jacket, seatshirt, sweater etc hide the outline.

But when summer comes I really cut back for fear of someone seeing the grip or outline of the gun when I stand in line, bend over, get out a car etc.

I didn't find much to go on so far.. but can you get in trouble if someone sees your CCW (outline under your shirt, shirt rides ups when bending over, wind) and freaks out?

Anyone with PA specific guidance?

I have 18 Hawaiian shirts.

Drives the little woman nuts, "Are going to wear that?"

I even have a cowboy style hawiian shirt with the snap fasteners and the yokes, it's kewl.

As long as don't have more belly than shirt (or gun) you ought to be fine. If not, find out if your local gym is posted:)

Get them large and comfy.

Hey Vick, Where you find those? That would be the 'Bees Knees' round here in Cowboy Country. Cept Most of the guys just wear their shirts with the tail out. But you know how they always taper the Cowboy shirts. For those of us endowed with very stout abs need a bit more room.:uhoh:

This one was a gift from sis in law. I'll ask from whence it came.

Label says Wrangler 1947, it's a straight cut bottom so ya don't tuck it in. Has the yoke across the front and back. Has the little slash pockets big enough for 3 fingers to fit, too small for pack of smokes. Short sleeve and a maroon floral print. Well made quality shirt.

I looked online for about 20 minutes and couldn't find anything in a western cut hawaiian shirt. Tried hawaiian cowboy shirt also and came up with a blank stare.

Looks like its going to take some serious digging. I'd like to have a few more of these as they fit well and are comfortable, not a flimsy material.

If you should stumble across a herd of these please post the whereabouts.

Vick:

Try the above address. This might be a double post as I lost the first one somewhere. There are other shirts, look on page 13 & 14 or such. Thnks

How I carry a 1911.

I carry a fullsize 1911. Tank style tee shirt underneath (keeps pistol from rusting and me from getting rubbed raw) and a polo shirt over that. Galco belt slide holster, OWB. Wear shirts with patterns, stripes, etc to break up the outline. If you print a bit most folks won't even notice, but with practice, adjusting where on the belt you carry and a little experimentation with clothing, you can eliminate even the little bit.

like Sitton quote too.

1911 Guy:

Pretty much in your camp about the printed shirt breaking up the outline of a weapon. I've never been much of a Hawiian shirt guy but they are comfortable and do conceal well. I've since learned more than a few LEO's wear them often, off duty.

I do wear a lot of western shirts as I love the snaps and durability of them. Now days I like the long sleeves for the summer sun protection they offer. Most of the Ole Cowboys in this neighborhood wear long sleeves year round. Plus lighter weight materials are available that allow comfortable wear. Still...

Tucking a shirt in on a 100 deg. day and wearing a vest or jacket screams louder than a camo belly bag...."I'm Armed. Granted most folks won't know but every LEO in the county will know! Some even will ask to see your credentials. And they aren't too particular where you are when they ask.

Ref: Gary Sitton. Helps me understand why my mind became like a steel trap some time ago. Wifey says..."closed Permanently".

PA does not have any of those ridiculous laws that equate printing or concealment slippage with brandishing.

Excluding Philadelphia and vehicular travel, PA, is, in fact, an "open carry" state for non prohibited persons, even without an LTCF.

That being said, reliable concealment is best, as alarming less informed members of the public is bad style. Avoiding unnecessary interactions with authorities should be SOP.

A good holster, belt, and slightly oversized t-shirt is all you need. The "FBI cant" is your friend, a 1911 will flatten right out.

Yet another vote for a regular undershirt (tucked) under a Hawaiian or campm shirt (untucked). You can hide anything under there, it's comfortable and cool, and other than the print on the shirt, commits no major fashion sins (you can carry or be fashionable; hard to do both).

The only other choice is go for a pocket gun; I might recommend the 642 Club in the Revolvers section.

I carry a Colt Government in a Milt Sparks VM-II holster. I wear a white undershirt, tucked in, and a regular t-shirt untucked over that. Nobody's ever noticed (or at least they havn't said anything).

My friends that know I carry (and most of them carry, too) often look at my right hip area and then have to aks whether or not I have it.

I played a 9-hole round of golf with one of my friends and he never noticed. Afterwards, we were talking about carry permits, how he could get one, and what to carry. He asked what I carried and I showed him. His eyes went like this: :what: , before he commented on the fact that he never knew it was there, despite being with me while squatting, bending, and twisting during the aforementioned round of golf while wearing just my t-shirt.

For those of us endowed with very stout abs ...

Riiiiiiiight.
I'm down to my last ab, though it is a large one. And somewhat protruding.

After all these years those bumps have finally smoothed out into one aerodynamic shape.

Checking Wrangler now, thanks.

Found it

Easiest to "Search", type in "shirts hawwaiian" and go to pages 13 & 14. The url didn't go directly to the shirt section though, it stopped at Home page.

http://www.wrangler.com/Pages/produ...MENS&garment=Dress Shirts&page=13&pid=MVW303M

Shirt model is MVW303M. Using the Zip code search I have 3 stores about 2 hrs. away that stock them.

Whodda thought shirts had model numbers as opposed to names like Impala or Pinto or Splash.
