Where did you find an iwb for a P-89?
seems awful large/thick for IWB carry but who am i to judge.
my buddy wants to carry his taurus p99 (?) a beretta 92 clone and its big like the rugers.
just wondering where ya founda rig for that ruger as they may have one for his taurus.

I carried a P 95 for a while. When I finally went IWB I bought an ALESSI HIDEOUT and found it to be stable and comfortable. I've had several ALESSI's and have never been disappointed.
P 95 is no larger than many of it's type. Dead reliable and tough as a fence post.

I carry both a P97 and occasionally my old P85. I ordered a couple of the inexpensive $11.95 Maverick IWB nylon holsters from Dillon's Blue Press. I like them. They're fairly thin but have a heavier sight channel and since the gun is mostly under your belt they hide and secure it pretty well. I Know the P89 would work and I would bet the P95 would too. If you order other stuff it would help offset the shipping charge which is $5.98 for up to $15 and $8.99 for up to $49.98.

ordered one of these

Milt Sparks Summer Special makes the P series big guns almost comfortable. You still have a little bulge under your shirt to cover with a vest, but the gun rides up high, really nice. I have a P85 and P90 and had a P95 that also fit the same holster. I traded off the P95, but have the other two guns that I do carry now and then, though I have better CCW guns. They are carriable, though, so long as the temps are mid 80s or less. Even a light vest gets hot in the summer.

I added the big flap. It covers the spring cover's lip that used to dig into the skin and protect's me from the gun's decocker. It rides close to the body (a good thing). The new Summer Specials have a different spring cover around the top of the holster, is internal rather than external, and doesn't dig at the skin so bad. But the flap I added helps this one a bunch.

Things I want in a holster, spring lip to keep the thing open for reholstering, retention by way of form fit of the holster and no snaps or retention straps, smooth inside/rough outside, high ride design. The Sparks fits all these criteria and set me back only $50. It's a good rig for big guns, comfortable. The thickness isn't a problem. The only thing bothers me about the P90 is its 33 unloaded ounces.

Kevin Manly of KDHolsters.com now makes the Cochise Defender for the P85/89 (thanks to me ordering the first one) and it's fantastic. Really does a great job of comfortably balancing and concealing such a huge hogleg!

For reference, my EDC is an Officer's size 1911 with slim grips, so the fact that it doesn't take me long to get used to the Ruger again speaks volumes for Kevin's leather.

BTW, I also reccomend getting the "sweat panel" added.

Hi!
I had a SOB (Small of Back) holster, leather, that best hid my p95DC. but not remembering the maker... look for a SOB holster, you will be HAPPY!..
Also, foreward cant pancake holster will be good for carry with a p95.

Peace, Ip9.

I carry the P85 (close, but... :D) in IWB. I've never been able to find a holster wheich fits my skinny framve, so I went to the clip from an Uncle Mikes and sewed it to a home-made holster made from a boot top. I ran a piece of aluminum strap down the spine to keep it a little bit open and, basically, just cut a sack to hold the piece. The same holster fits my DW .357, also.

Because I also make my own CC vests, it works for me. Just remember to sew weights in the hem of the vest, to keep it from "flying" and all is goodly in the land of peekers. :neener: It is amazing what one can learn to do with a 1926 Singer and a little practice.

I use a Ted Blocker DA3 from my P97DC http://www.tedblocker.com/DA3.html It's very confortable and more than snug enough to hold my pistol even without a safety strap when I've been dumped on my can. The addded bonus of him being local to me is really nice. They also tend to be a bit less expensive than quite a few of the other holster makers out there.

Assuming that you've already decided you can carry the weight and size comfortably on the belt, then this seems like a good time for the comp-tac CTAC. I carry a 5" 1911 in one and it's no big deal to haul. Doesn't shift or rock, retains well, spreads weight well. The offset clips really help cut down on thickness.

The thickness is the thing. It's like shoving a brick in your waistband. Just ordered the Bianchi Hawk. I carry a 357 snub on my waist now, but I want to be able to carry "something more substantial" if the need arises. I'm not too thrilled the way our area has changed as of late, and the shoulder rig looks like it may be better for in the car as well. Call me paranoid. :what:
Update y'all when I get it.

Just got the Bianchi hawk. I'm wearing it now. I like it a lot. I'm going to pick up some chinese food right now, and I don't think anyone will see it. I'm wearing it barrel up and hammer down at about a 45 degree angle. Fits well and very comfortable. More later.

I have a P94 on me right now. Its in a Uncle Mikes IWB holster. Its comfortable and works for me. For how little they cost I think it would be worth it to pick one up and see how you like it.

I've worn the shoulder rig all evening, and I've got it dialed in pretty good. Lot's of adjustments. It was a lot more comforable than I was led to believe it could be. It's a keeper. If I get the chance I'll shoot some pix. and post'em. ;)

I carry a P95 IWB in a homemade holster. I have found that it is only marginally if any more difficult to conceal than the undurable KelTec P11 I previously carried. In fact, it seems that a gun with a longer barrel stays put better since the barrel stabilizes the gun. I found that I could buy a bag of leather scraps with enough material for 5 or six holsters at Hobby Lobby for $10. I ain't done experimenting yet.

I've been turned off of shoulder holsters ever since the guy next to me in my CHL class was fondling the teacher's revolver and pretended to draw it from a shoulder holster. He pointed it across the room and made shooting sounds like a kid would do. I guess I've associated his childishness with shoulder holsters and shoulder holsters with teevee detectives. Besides, I live in south Texas and wear a coat maybe ten days a year.

When made correctly, I believe that IWB holsters secure a gun better, reduce print more, locate the gun for a repeatable draw, and are more comfortable than any other method of carry.
