Say you are in the storw with your family; do you shoot, hide, run, call 911?

(Charleston) - Two young people have been arrested and charged with holding up a Charleston video store.

A nine-year-old boy with them was also taken into custody but was not charged. He was released to his mother.

Officials say a 14-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy are charged as juveniles with robbing the store Wednesday night, using a B.B. gun.

None of the youngsters' names have been released.

Charleston County school spokesman Jerry Adams says all three children have been suspended and will probably be recommended for expulsion from school.

Might be good for tactics forum. Anyway, I'd lie low. If one of the little punks takes aim at me, I fire with all I have. I don't care if they are young, and I don't care if it is just a BB gun. What I care about is my life.

Impossible to say what I would have done had I been there. I imagine that I would've recognized it was a bb gun and taken it away.

If a kid points a bb gun at you and you know it's a bb gun, does that change how you'd handle the situation?

A bb-gun to the eye can kill you. I respond with all I have. The age of the scum does NOT figure into my thinking.

Even if a kid with a BB gun could chance hitting someone in the eye, it's unlikely. Heck if you are rushing toward him with a zigzag pattern, I would bet he wouldn't be able to hit anything.

Deadly force is only justified if you think the BB gun is real. If you know it's just a BB gun, you don't shoot the punk. Even if you thought it was real, the MSM will hang you out to dry for shooting him.

And, for anyone who felt like shooting the junior goblin...

Just wait a year or so. He'll probably have a real gun next time.

I would think that the ratting of the BBs would be a dead giveaway of what it is. Not to mention a Daisy/Crosman/Marksman logo.

If I recognized their gun as a BB gun, I'd disarm them and sit on them until the cops arrived. Otherwise, I'd hide, call 911, and be prepared to defend myself with my CCW handgun if they approached me.

Pardon the pronoun. Girl or boy, it makes no difference. The kid will be ventilated.

A lot of the airsoft type guns look very much like real ones. Doesn't take much to paint the orange tips black.
Still, I'm guessing that if a trio of kids comes in to rob the place, I'd either take 'em over my knee or laugh them out of the store. A simple draw on them would probably scare some sense into the little brats, if you couldn't identify if it was a BB gun or not. Probably tell by the way they wave it.

Sheeple. Sheeple in the house. If some four year old girl points anything remotely resembling a gun at me, I will ventilate her. Orange tip? That can be put on any gun. A bb gun can kill in a lcky shot.

I'm with the....

...snag the gun from them and whale the living daylights outta 'em crowd. Even if it's a real gun, odds are, they don't know how to use it. If it's obviously a BB gun, then the odds are pretty good that they won't be able to do any lasting damage to you with it (freak shots happen, and folks have died from being shot with BB/Pellet guns, )
Now, if they're older teens and I'm not sure if the gun's real or not, then I do whatever I gotta do to survive.

Why does age matter? I am more important than any puke kid. Especially one who pulls something like this. Oh no, I killed a real future nobel prize winner.

Like Betrix Kiddo, I'd whip out my Hanzo sword and tan their hides while saying, "This is what you get when you try to rob people! Now go home to your mother!"

If it's just a kid, you can assume the gun is fake - especially if you look at the way they hold it. You can't wave a 1911 around like it's plastic. You can get into major trouble - VERY major trouble by shooting a kid, even if he's in the commission of a crime. If it turns out that it was a BB gun - the parents will give you holy hell.
On the other hand, the parents ought to get holy hell for having a kid that would do this kind of thing.

And the poster indicated that you are not behind the counter - you are a possible customer. Therefore, your life is not in imminent danger. There is probably a video camera recording what is going on.

Like I have said. Lay low. If they point anything remotely dangerous at you, unload everything you have. Deal with the consequences later.

Could you tell this is a BB gun?
(I have one of these, and it looks just like a stainless Beretta 92)

If I know it is a BB gun, I'll probably (99%) not fire. Water, dart or airsoft and I am certainly not firing.

And open up on a four year old? Since I am not some sick SOB I'll figure something else out. If he or she is already firing at people I might have a difficult choice but if the gun is just being waved around then no I am not firing.

I've HAD kids wave realistic looking toy guns in my direction and even point them straight at me. I've managed to get survive each encounter without drawing on them, or even hurting them. But then I'm not looking for an excuse to kill some "puke".

I will err on the side of saving myself. Period. I, and the people I love, are worth more than anyone else. I would never shoot to "get someone" who might be trouble to society later. I would never shoot to protect any property whatsoever--especially not mine. However, if I or someone I love is threatened, I err on the side of survival.

Utter nonsense, Cybert. It won't be long before you are in jail. When using lethal force, you have to understand there are ramifications and there are serious judgement concerns. I question your judgement.

Utter nonsense that you would use lethal force in order to protect yourself and those that you love? It is in the extremes that we show who we really are. I am vehemently against the death penalty. Perhaps that shows who I really am, as well.

You are scary!

You are scary, Cybert. I hope most of what I am hearing is keyboard commando talk.

The consideration of taking a human life is a serious, serious decison. Your willingness to shoot four year olds and kids with BB guns is of very grave concern. Just move out of the line of fire with the four year old and take it away. If BB guns were deadly, there would be an awful lot of dead kids around, since they often are used to "sting" each other for fun (not appropriately, I might add.). How about paint ball guns - are you going to shoot them too?

You need to go back and get extensive training on what is justifiable use of deadly force. Your perceptions of your right to shoot to kill not only endanger to the public, they endanger the right to carry of all of us who have worked so hard over the years to obtain that right.

Is the muzzle opening BB or pellet sized? The picture you show is not what we would see if the gun were threatening us. Take a picture of the muzzle pointing at the camera and ask your question again.

We used to shoot each other with BB rifles as kids. This state defines BB guns as firearms. Quite the dilema. I'm not scared enough of BB guns to kill over one. Especially the pistols. The CO2 pistols I have examined were so underpowered I've never had a desire to own one. Easy to block my eyes with a forearm and I do generally wear protective clothing. The scene described would more than likely end with me chasing the brats out of the store since I doubt they'd let me get my hands on their gun.

Real weapons don't even cause me fear. It very much does depend on who is holding it and why. "What" they're holding is not so big a deal. I've faced knives, guns, and even a tire iron (used as a club). I don't discount the weapon, they can all kill you dead, but it's just one more piece of the survival puzzle.

Unarmed people can be exremely threatening, especially in numbers. Young teens not so much though. They'd have to be a credible threat to my long term welfare before I'd do any significant damage to them. Retribution from parents never sounded like something I'd care to experience.
