Got S&W 24 SR's #4 mk 1 "scout" back from the gunsmith and wow what a great little shooter!
The project started two years (or was it 4?) ago with an auctionarms purchase of an old refield IER scope base, followed by a matching scope and rings. This ended up in the back of the gun closet for a good amount of time.
About 1 1/2 yrs ago S&W 24 SR got a #4 sporter from a family friend. about 6 months after that we found a great looking sporter stock on another SMLE sporter. after desiding not to keep the gun we switched out the 5 round mag and the nice stock for some not so great looking ones and sold it at a gun show.
Long story short we now have a 20" bbl savage made #4 mk 1 enfield with a golden state arms 5 round mag, bishop stock, 1" sling swivels, and a redfield "scout" scope. At 50 yards I'm getting .5 inch groups with south african ball ammo! 123 grain handloads only gave me 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards.
If I can find out how to post a pick I will
