What are some of the "best" holsters for a Sig Sauer P226?

I know that holsters will vary greatly depending on personal preference, but I literally have no idea where to start. For example, which company has a reputation for making the best holsters? Most durable?

Any information, as well as links or pictures, would be most helpful. Thank you.

I like Blade Tech or Milt Sparks Versa Max II, both of which are IWB type holsters.

What kinda holster you looking for? OWB? IWB? Looking for concealment or a general range holster? Competition?

There are two main types of holster material, leather and Kydex. Kydex is a hard plastic, err... polymer molded to hold the gun. The advantages of Kydex is that it's fast to draw from, and pretty durable against the elements. Cons, well it'll wear your finish pretty fast at the retaining points. It's hell on blued guns though.

Leather has more give and flexibility, and will wear your firearm slower... but in a larger area over time.

There are two main companies that I can wholeheartily recommend because I have pretty much sent all my business to them.

Milt Sparks for leather, and Comptac for Kydex.

Some specific models to look at, for OWB (outside the waistband): Milt Sparks 55BN or 60TK for leather, and the Comptac Beltslide or Deluxe settable cant for Kydex.

The Milt Sparks Versa Max II and Summer Special II / #1 Heritage are excellent leather IWB (inside the waistband) holsters.

Good luck.

Welcome.

I have now used my K&D Eagle Defender for over 2 years and it is ideal for me. It is of course OWB. It holds in tight and the only difference from a IWB is there is holster showing below my belt line - but concealment is no problem for me.

This pic was when new but I am still finding it is doing well despite EDC 16/7.

Take a peek at http://www.kdholsters.com/ - and you'll also find some good IWB's as well.

It does pay to invest in good custom leather, the only downside is a wait of 2 months or more.

Thank you all for your comments. After taking in all the factors, I've narrowed my selection down to a leather OWB holster. As far as which brand to choose, I'll give it some time especially since I have to wait 10 more days until my new P226.

Use a 6004 for my 226R w/ TLR-1 on my tac rig, and on my duty rig it's a 6280. Both are SLS, and just the tac/duty versions of the 6281. Both work just great, my 6280 has stopped a gun grab, and both are very smooth to draw from after you get the reps in. I like the SLS system, it's not perfect but I think it's probably the best option out ther currently.

OWB leather? I like Kramer's horsehide belt scabbard myself.
