I like mine. It is an older one that uses N type batteries. I think the newer ones have better battery life, though mine is just fine and it does have a time cut off.

1. Make sure you get flip-up type back up irons. I got one of those RRA mounts with the built in iron sights. It works well, but the irons are in the way just a bit too much.
2. Off the bench, I tend to try to get too precise using that 1 MOA dot. I think it hurts my accuracy.

I have a Eotech 511 on my PS90. I like it a lot. I like the adjustability of the reticle for brightness, and the 1 MOA dot in the center is really sweet :)

I would also recommend just getting a 510 model (AA batteries) or,
as another poster suggested, the Bushnell Holosight, if your not going to be going into a combat zone with it.

The above linked Eotech "F" model would be more than enough optic for you to use at the range or for home defence, plus it's cheaper.
Just my 2 cents....Good luck.

Great pics fellas!!

I have 2 mounted on black rifles.

I have been able to make sustained hits on 3' poppers out to 200yards while on the move. I don't doubt that I can extend out to 300yards without need to adjust sights. Up close, it's the fastest optic.

Only negative is that it is battery powered.

While I would really like an ACOG, the EOtech is very good.

I have the 512, because I just didn't see the need for NV. Sits on my AR, never loses zero, and the batteries last a long time. Besides, I just put a couple batteries in my Tango Down grip and I am GTG.

They have gotten so reliable that the guys on 10-8 forums are good with them, and that's saying something.

Love mine. It is the bees knees for fast close range shooting and not to shabby at extended range. I use the AA model and got about a year out of the batteries before the reticle started blinking at me. Once I got used to shooting both eyes open and looking at the target instead of the sight I was amazed at just how quick it was when switching from one target to another.

Very nice thread! I am wondering about these guys too. I want one now.

Stevie-Ray, that is almost exactly what mine will look like when I'm finished. You sir have great taste in black rifles.

My new 511 will be here in about an hour :) I shot with a friends and loved it so I had to have one once I got an AR. That happened a couple weeks ago so now the EOTech is on its way.

I really hate being like everyone else... Sometimes you just can't argue with reason and logic though. No matter how hard I try. :)

I agree with the not likeing to be like everyone else, but sometimes there is something that just work too well to go in a different direction.

I was thinking of going with a Trijicon Reflex, but there were far more complaints of washing out than with the EOTech. The ONLY downside to the EOTech is having to change batteries. That really isnt a downside to me as my sight wont be on for hours on end, day after day.

Love mine. I own an Aimpoint Comp M-XD, EoTech 512 and a first-gen Bushnell HOLOsight. Even with the new ML4 Aimpoint I'll never go back to an Aimpoint. I love the reticle on the EoTech!

I have the 553.065 resting on an FS2000, sorry no pics yet. I’m taller than the average bear and I like how the 553 is a touch taller than the other EOTechs, really like the 1100 hours on the batteries and the auto shut off features. The FN is brand new and I have not taken it to the range yet.

After playing with the FN and the 553, I’ve decided to mount the 553 towards the front of the FN. It seems that my brain has an easier time of connecting my motor skills with the input from my eyes – so initial target acquisition seems easier with the 553 towards the front, and it seems easier to track a moving target.

Hoping to get to the range within a few weeks to try out the 553 for distance, I’m only looking for a max of 300 yards out of it, so we should be good!

Be safe, BSR

While I really wanted an ACOG, I couldn't afford one so I got an EOTech. It's a helluva sight but I could use some magnification.

got one on my M4A3.

Its fast, and its never given me the slightest bit of trouble.

And when I shoot with both eyes open I feel like a videogame character--I get the "crosshair of death" just sorta floating in the middle of my FOV sometimes.
