stiker fired polymer with manual safety

not exactly a "manual" safety, but the springfield XD has alot of excellent safety features that still ensure that when you grab the gun and pull the trigger, it will shoot and you'll never forget to take the safety off in a high-stress situation.

-awesome loaded chamber indicator and cocked firing pin indicator (both of which can be seen easily AND felt by touch)
- grip safety + glock style trigger safety

just some food for thought....

Those backstrap safeties are also very nice because you can't work the action without having it depressed, it's a nice feature in a stressful situation. It's also a nice thing that you can't fire the gun without having it completely depressed, in a high-stress situation you surely will manage to get a full and complete grip on the gun though. Those loaded chamber indicators are so cool. I'm glad the Democrats are pushing for them rather than having people rely on basic firearm safety. Cocked indicators are also very useful on a striker fired gun because it's possible to load it without it being cocked. Right?

Only striker fired polymer I can think of right now with a manual safety that actually works (Taurus safeties are a poor design and don't work) is the M&P 45.

What!? I'm going to sell mine tomorrow. No wonder both my wife and I have shot each other in the foot  All kidding aside, my safety works just fine on our MilPro PT111, but in all fairness I have heard some posters say they have had problems with their third generations. But I wouldn't condemn the whole line.

Seriously? M&P has a manual safety?

Yes the version of the M&P S&W designed for the SOCOM 45 ACP pistol trials comes with a manual thumb safety , I believe its now an optional feature on that model . The safety look alot like the one o a 1911 visually .

Get the 24/7 Pro. You will love it as much as I do. I own 2 of the .45s and both have been 100%. For a more CCW try the Taurus PT145

The M&P 45 is not out yet, though might be in the stores within the next couple of weeks. Once this happens I am sure the boards will know about it.

There is some confusion as to what models at first will get the 1911-style safety. It has been shown in the 'earth' toned color with the safety, though it is believed the all black models will get them too....just maybe not the initial run. Because of the modular design, we may also see the safety be an option on their other models as well.

These .45's and safety variants might be great sellers for S&W.

They should be. The police agencies all over the country will be replacing their Glocks to these I'm sure so the officers can stop shooting themselves, er . . . getting shot by those Glocks that 'just go off.'

The grip safety on a Springfield XD functions as a manual safety. It has to be fully depressed in order to rack the slide or pull the trigger.

ok ok, grip safety is not a passive safety. you've convinced me lol. Since it "functions" as a manual safety, consider it officially added to the list.

So we have-

24/7
cztt45
tangfolio witness p series
wilson adp
m&p of tomorrow
steyr of yesterday

BS.....:barf:

they work fine. on every Taurus Ive fired, and mine included. (PT111SSP MilPro)..
Taurus makes top of the line pistols. and yes, I HAVE owned many pistols, some MORE expensive, and less reliable. Glocks' for starters, Kimber..

sorry to take the tread a lil off topic.. But Ive never seen a taurus not work, per function, ever.. I think a saftey can be a good thing, jut gotta practice yer draw while using it.. not hard really. just like practicing anything else, repetition and common scence. ;)

ip.

Your sarcasm got all over me with that post, but I'd like to point out there are some TDA striker guns out there like the walther p99 that can be loaded and not cocked.

What part of town mpanova, maybe I can try your tauri? You can shoot at my range for free & ammo's on me.

I live in Rosenberg right off 59 and reading rd. I normally go shoot at the Marksman in Pasadena so I dont mind driving. Where is your range? Me and the wife are going to shoot this Thursday. PM me your number and Ill give you a call so we can meet up ;)

WOW rosenberg; why do you guys drive all the way to pasadena?! Is that the indoor range in downtown pasadena then? I guess it's not that bad, 59 to beltway (I'm a member at PSC btw).

Assume you shoot in the evenings on weekdays? I'm only good til about noon, so I usually have to catch "normal" scheduled people on weekends, when they can shoot during the day (I'm a vampire). Got your pm, will keep handy jic. I really appreciate it.

Those 24/7's certainly are priced right @ $335/346(ss) anyways.
