the springfield XD has alot of excellent safety features that still ensure that when you grab the gun and pull the trigger, it will shoot and you'll never forget to take the safety off in a high-stress situation.
-awesome loaded chamber indicator and cocked firing pin indicator (both of which can be seen easily AND felt by touch)
- grip safety + glock style trigger safety
What!? I'm going to sell mine tomorrow. No wonder both my wife and I have shot each other in the foot All kidding aside, my safety works just fine on our MilPro PT111, but in all fairness I have heard some posters say they have had problems with their third generations. But I wouldn't condemn the whole line.(Taurus safeties are a poor design and don't work)
Only striker fired polymer I can think of right now with a manual safety that actually works (Taurus safeties are a poor design and don't work) is the M&P 45.
These .45's and safety variants might be great sellers for S&W.
The grip safety on a Springfield XD functions as a manual safety. It has to be fully depressed in order to rack the slide or pull the trigger.
Your sarcasm got all over me with that post, but I'd like to point out there are some TDA striker guns out there like the walther p99 that can be loaded and not cocked.Cocked indicators are also very useful on a striker fired gun because it's possible to load it without it being cocked.
