I am starting to hate this...err planet. I am very frustrated at this country also. In my neck of the woods (Spokane County, Eastern WA) it is illegal to light off fireworks. So in other words, to celebrate INDEPENDENCE day, in the "normal" format, it is illegal.:fire:

Lets me say it again:

FOR ME TO CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY, I HAVE TO DO IT ILLEGALLY!!!

This is really just a huge rant but I firmly believe it has merit. They say but fireworks cause fires, hurt many people, and is a drain on civil resources. Fire works don't set things on fire anymore than my gun shoots people (pro gun rhetoric), Don't point bottle rockets at people, and SO WHAT, we pay firemen to do stuff, too bad they have a busy day in a year!

No longer am I punished for damaging property, I am punished for others damaging property. I have never NEVER damage, hurt, killed, destroyed, anything not intended as such with a fire work. AM I just being an insane nut job or are there others out there that think like me? I cant believe I am the only one left.

It is a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail. http://www.krem.com/news/police/stories/krem2_062707_Fireworks_Ban_Reminder.1d494b3b.html

I shoot them off myself every year for 2 reasons. I celebrate the greatest country on earth plus I shoot them in defiance to the tree hugging, blissniny, Greenpeace, hemp loving, frog eating, belly aching, city dwellin, liberal, fools in this area. Listen I say. Look at that mortar, it is SO pretty. Bet it keeps ya awake tonight, FOR A GOOD REASON! Let me repeat:

FOR ME TO CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY, I HAVE TO DO IT ILLEGALLY!!!

O and another thing they repeatably put on TV to tattle on your neighbors to report fireworks ban violators. I HATE THAT!

Rant off. Have a happy 4th O yeah and I am going to bust a few caps tomorrow also :neener::evil:

No laws will ever stop people from celebrating the 4th with explosives of all types.

I actually find it somewhat comforting and telling that a good portion of the population celebrates this country's birth, in part by violating unjust laws. Not saying I condone it, but I admire that it happens.

Its 11:35 and we have friggin retards setting them off and have been since this afternoon... Pop Pop Bang Pop Pop.. BOOM..pop bang.........Its getting rediculous and in a few minutes I might just walk down the street to that damn field and say hello. Might have some fireworks for ya :D

we can use fireworks but we must sign a paper saying the they are being used for pest control

In other words to celebrate our independence from an oppressive government we must pledge to our government that we are not celebrating that independence but merely trying to drive bird pests away

Might not want to set off fireworks where it's illegal. It's probably a terroristic threat or act as of lately.:barf: (Wouldn't suprise me if somebody somewhere is trying it)

LOL @ terrorist act. Pest control, how ridiculous.

Alphazulu, Do you have to goto work tomorrow? Why don't you have some fun yourself if not?

Here in NY (and in various nearby states), any sale of, and possession or use of fireworks without a proper license is a fairly serious crime.

That being said, the enforcement of those laws varies widely between areas, and the individual enforcement agent. Most cops responding to personal fireworks usage will simply confiscate them. And it's sort of sad to see, because you know they don't want to do it. Various times over the years I've simply been told to stop, and had nothing confiscated.

I beg to differ about the comment that fireworks don't set things on fire.

Last year a guy in TX shot off some sort of aerial rocket that hit his neighbor's house...burned it to the ground.

If there hasn't been rain for a while, things get ugly pretty quick.

Alphazulu I shake my head in light of this ridiculous news :barf:

I would take this risk of my house burning down to celebrate freedom. I also risk my life doing various other things. I hate being moderated in ALL things. No campfires by the lake. NO camping in the middle of the woods. No fishing here. No atv's here. NO walking the dog without a leash. Any number of things that COULD be a problem but normally aren't

Haha the Hillary thing was a joke... hope someone got it. And yes they are legal here, I just hate that they are so damn big and loud that they rattle the couch I am sitting on at 12:30AM :scrutiny:
And no I cannot sleep with that crap going on b/c loud noises bother me and probably will for the rest of my life.

And of course the dogs dont know what to think. SO I sit here watching some BS on TV and watch the flashes... and get slammed in these forums for my sense of humor :cuss:

Haha Happy 4th of July!

Alpha zulu I didnt mean to slam you I am sorry I was referring to this

Sorry for the confusion

My neighbors and I used to have cedar shake roofs, their all composite shingles now. Blast away, won't bother me in the least, I won't complain.

I love M80s. Everything else is pretty weak after that.

I was thinking about filling some sort of inner tube with an oxygen/acetylene mix and lighting that thing off. Maybe dump it in the pool first. I wonder how high the splash would go............

Come to think of it, American Independence came as a result of quite a few illegal acts. Perhaps it's best that Americans keep the spirit of willful disobedience alive in this day and age.

Not that I'd advocate violating the law, mind you.

If you're setting them off on your property, why not just buy some rifle or handgun blanks and fire them into the air Arab style? Except, instead of saying, "Allah hu Akhbar!" (God is Great), just scream, "America is GREAT, America is GREAT"... hell, I might do that... good idea me! :D

Anybody who thinks Fireworks don't cause fires, or thinks its OK because we pay firefighters to put out fires is totally misguided and wrong. As a Vol firefighter/medic, I have seen my share of accidents and injuries caused by moron who think fireworks are simply toys. Most of the injuries fireworks cause are to children, mostly because their parents do not have enough sense to keep them away from harm.

In addition, quite a few large fires, including structure fires occur each year because of people playing with fireworks. In many cases, the structures they set ablaze are (fittingly) their own.

One of the largest causes of fires and injuries is the basic "sparkler". Its basically a stick of burning metal that can reach temps of up to 3000 degrees! They cause eye injuries, burns, and catch clothes on fire. After use, many are simply thrown or tossed away while still burning, starting ground and trash can fires.

Another big cause of accident and fires are Roman Candles. These are responsable for many fires a year, and because they are so dangerous, are banned in a lot of places.

Even simple bottle rockets can be dangerous, especcially for those who act like fireworks are no big deal! Bottle rockets have caused many injuries and fires.

The biggest cause of firework accidents and injuries is from morons who have no respect for fireworks. These dolts act like they know better than the firefighters, medics, and fire marshals, and believe they can do what ever they want, despite the laws, and especially despite the dry weather conditions.

The other problem I see is some people think firefighters are supposed to put themselves in harms way because a moron decided to throw out a cigarette by the road, start a campfire in the woods in dry season, or shoot off illegal fireworks! While I am highly trained, and willing to help out my fellow man, I don't think its right for anyone to expect me to risk my life because of an arsonist, lazy cigarette smoker or misguided fireworks user.

While many regular laws are questionable, and are on the books because idiots are in office, most, if not all of the laws concerning fire and safety are there because they make a difference. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that dry summer conditions and fire don't mix. Nor does it take a genius to see that a person who thinks fireworks are not a danger, is dangerous!

a neighbor started the woods on fire with a bottle rocket yrs ago. we just shoot off a few black powder rds from the 12 ga and the 50 cal. after dark, lots of noise and lots of fire to see. especially from the flintlock.

That's great that you're willing to risk your house, but what happens when if your fireworks damage someone elses property. People here seem to be extremely selfish sometimes. It's as if everyone wants to do whatever they want without regard for anyone else.

"The day will be the most memorable in America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival...it ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade...bonfires and illuminations (fireworks) from one end of this continent to the other, from this day forward, forevermore."
-John Adams, in a letter to his wife after the Continental Congress decided to proclaim the American colonies independent from Britain.

Amen to that  . Oh and Beachmaster a friend of mine (who happens to be a vol firefighter) came over lastnight to light a few fireworks off with us. You shouldn't lump all people into one group with those who are idoits, and punish all for the actions of the few. Remember thats what antis do ;) . Yes I celebrate the 4th here in The Peoples Republic of Daleynois with illegal fireworks, and its one of the few times breaking the law feels good.
