I decided to go for broke and see if I can make Distinguished, and get a Service .45 for Bullseye.

Rock River Arms Hardball is a 6 month wait.

Should I wait? Or, get a Colt 70 (or such) and have it Smithed?

thanks,

If you're willing to spend the money on a RRA, why not get a Les Baer. Champion's Choice has them in stock.

I legged out with a Springfield Armory 1911A1 that was accurized by a local gunsmith here in the DFW area. Worked fine for me and was a lot less expensive than either the RRA or Les Baer.

I had never thought of Springfield before actually. Someone offered me theirs for the same price as a RRA, incidently. After it had done through the SA Custom Shop with the following done to it. 300 rounds through it, he says.

* Slide cut and sights installed, Bomar rear sight and dovetail front sight
* Slide fit to frame
* Nowlin match barrel and bushing fitted
* Full action job with tool steel parts, 4.0 lbs trigger
* Complete pistol deburred, internally and externally
* Extractor tuned, barrel ramped and throated
* Front strap checkered 25 LPI
* Armory Kote slide
* Matte hard chrome frame and small parts
* Both flat and arched mainspring housings provided
* Craig Spegel stocks

Does the price seem right? Are they good?
Thanks for the LesBaer Suggestion;actually, the second. However, I have gone the web page and I can find no pistols.

Anyways, thanks

Champion's Choice and Gil Hebard both carrry Les Baers. You need to check their catalog or call them. Champion's Choice shows them in their catalog on page 40. Gil Hebard does not have a website so you need to call for availabilty.
Champion's Choice is 1-800-345-7179 and Gil is at (309) 289-2700.
I know CC has them, since one of the guy's who shoots EIC matches in this area just picked one up from them.

Did the fellow with the SA 1911 say that it was CMP legal?

He didn't say. Although I checked against the CMP Competition Rules book, and the matte chrome is okay. Good point tho' I will ask, as that is why I am getting it.
