What About the RRA DEA Rifle?

I read about the Rock River Arms DEA AR-15 carbine last year, but can't find it on RRA's web site. Do they still offer this?

How does this gun compare to a Colt M4?

My understanding is that the specific carbine is LEO only (not due to the ban) but they will be marketing a similar carbine with a different name (government?) to the rest of us soon.

there seems to be alot of confusion about this firearm
check out the equipment exchange on AR15.COM (that is the cheapest place to buy ARs/AR parts that i know of) or just post about it on ar15.com they seem to know everything about ARs.

Read a review about the Gov't model (civy version of DEA AR) recently, and they said is was north of $2,000. It costs that much because it includes an EOTech sight, carry handle, Surefire light, picitinny rail hand guard, case, mags, etc.

You could build one at RRA for quite a bit less if you don't need the toys.

FYI: The actual RRA DEA rifle is a 14.5" barrel. The RRA Government model is a similarly equiped 16" barrel rifle and accessories.

Friend of mine bought one a few months ago. Nothing spectacular, IMO, but then I'm not the type who likes all those do-dads on the gun. Does come with an EOTech 552, Surefire, etc. Not being in law enforcement or SpecOps, not appealling to me, particularly the price.

Rock River rep was at Knob Creek and had a DEA version on display. Civvy version will have same goodies except 16"vs 14.5" barrel and select fire. Price was quoted as $2300. Government model is the correct term.

If you strip off the Surefire handguard/laser/light combo, EOTech holosight, and GG&G buis and get down to the base gun, price is $935.

It is this model after you take all the goodies off.

Tactical CAR A4 No Ban

I spent some time talking to the guy and checking it out. Seems like a pretty well built gun and the price is not bad if you stick to the base model and add the other goodies as you like.

I'm not sure, but my best recollection of the conversation was that the gun is chrome lined, don't remember the type of steel though.

Well, I called RRA today (like I should have done to start with). The lady said they are planning to offer it on their web site in the near future. (I didn't even ask the price.) She said it had a 1-in-9 twist barrel, which was a deal-killer for me. (I'm looking for a 1-in-7 twist barrel.)

OK, I reread the article I posted, which was provided by RRA.

Neither gun is select fire. I mis-read that. DEA version has

14.5" chrome lined barrel with permanently attached flash hider

Only the civy versions have the 16" barrel.
