Please help me to buy a RRA AR

Now the AWB is over and I plan to buy an AR to celebrate. I put my eye on the Rock River Arms AR, since I already have a Bushmaster and heard RRA is pretty good.

I want to buy a Carbine, and got the following questions:

1. I didn't see from their website the RRA Carbine has a M4 barrel profile model, is there such a model?

2. What type of handguard do you guys prefer, the CAR or Mid-Length?

3. What is the best online place I could buy such an RRA Carbine for a good price? I found that the price online is much lower than in my local gun store even after including the shipping and FFL transfer fee. However, I didn't find a reliable online store which carries the full line of RRA AR.

S&H, Just looked though the RRA cat. and it looks like the only one they show with the M4 style barrel is the Entry Tactical. None of the others shown have the M4 barrel cut.

RRA dose not show a M4 style barrel in the mid length carbines, That is a compleatly differant barrel, with the front sight moved further out on the barrel. Not just different handguards if you didn't know already.

I think Adco firearms had pretty good prices when I was looking.

They don't show a model with the M4 upper, but they do offer the upper separately.

I'm considering just getting an upper and lower and mating them... you get exactly what you want, and it might even cost less.

ADCO does look pretty good on RRA prices, but Aimsurplus has Bushmasters for around $800 (seem like very good prices to me).

I have an RRA mid-length upper and the barrel is HEAVY profile under the handguards. Been meaning to get it cut down, but they should really offer a cut-down one with the M4 profile up front to make it look more like an M4.

Just spend some more time looking at the RRA website, and it seems that the Entry Tactical model has the M4 type barrel (thanks, DarkSide).

I am now aware of the different barrel profile for different handguard. The question now is: Which barrel profile is better?

for M4 style barrel, it should be much lighter, which is good for a Carbine, but does the complicated profile barrel affect the accuracy inside 300 yards? Is the fat R-4 handguard comfortable when hold in the hand compared to a mid-length handguard? The gas port of a M4 barrel is more backward compared to a standard M16, does this has anything to do with the function reliability?

I just looked at the ADCO, it has lots of selections. The prices are, IMHO, reasonable. I think for a MSRP $900 I should get some store price of ~$750. But the ADCO prices are around $850. , and without the retractable stock

A2 under the handguards with the M4-style profile in front, at least IMHO. But then again, I hate heavy AR-15s - I have a 16" LW myself.

Not enough to matter to 90% of shooters, I'd guess.

The handguard thing is a matter of taste - I think a slim mid-length is a good handguard, but the fat M4-style certainly has its fans. As for the gas port, you generally want the longest gas system your barrel can accommodate (rifle for 20"-24", mid for 16", carbine for 11.5"-14.5"), but it shouldn't impact reliability too much.

I have already quoted a few prices today and a few from this board and they can know compare what I quoted them to what you have posted after I quoted them.
Thank you for helping me. I do not get mine stamped like his so I can still charge 25% less on the stripped recievers.
Pete is a good and fair dealer and does a great deal on the sales but I do not see alot of diference between list and his prices on most items.
