I caught this as it came on the news earlier today and looked a the tv from across the room and said to myself "holy smokes" then I sat down and realized it all looked like airsoft / bb guns.

They continue to report otherwise.

Go to the link you will see the video and as more of this become available go ahead and post it up.

As I write this more than a few hours after they have said they are all fake, I just turned on FOX and Shepperd goes full bore about the huge weapon cache found and fails to mention that they were fake.

Oh yes, one 9mm was found that was purchased by the kids mother. I predict it was HER pistol not found in the kids room.... We will see.

The reporter said they're all BB guns except for a 9mm pistol.

Honesty in reporting, whodathunkit.

The reporter on the video clearly says they're "BB guns" and that the only actual gun is a 9mm that the mother bought at a gun show. They also clearly say that there was no ammunition.

I think the 9mm was the Hi-Point carbine. I think that is what the reporters are calling the "assault weapon". SInce when did a Hi-Point start being called an "AW"?

CNN is now claiming that grenades were included in the seizure..

Are the majors just getting worked up and over reporting, or was this acutally something real?

CNN is calling it a 9mm assault rifle... :scrutiny:
I'm beginning to think they consider any semi automatic an assault weapon now.

At least they mention the other weapons were air powered.

If you look at the story, you see that this kid was arrested on a tip that was made yesterday. So I hope that whoever made the tip saw what happened in Cleveland and realized this kid was at risk of doing the same thing.

THIS is how you stop school shootings, not with ineffective gun control measures that punish the rest of us. These guys always seem to give off obvious warning signs before they snap. It just takes one person to pick up on it and report it to the authorities to stop an attack. I'm sick of hearing "oh he talked about getting revenge on us and blowing up the school etc etc, but we thought he was just joking!"

Luckily it seems the media is picking up on this too, they are focusing on how many obvious warning signs were present before the Cleveland shooting, and how they were all ignored.

Not at first. At first they were all deadly weapons.

Well, with that cache I'd bet it was a paintball grenade or an airsoft claymore.

In the video inthe above link they said it was an improvised device that the sherrif said was not functional. I think they described it as a plactic container with some kind of explosive powder in it.

In the latest one i have read, they say there were three grenades, one functional and two in the making.

MSNBC was going crazy over all the firearms. The criminal profiler they always get on at this time (who is anti-gun) just went on and on about there are around 300 milllion firearms owned by CIVILIANS and on and on.

they took toy guns away from a kid that kept the guns inside of his house? last time i checked there were no limits on how many airsoft guns 1 person is allowed to own

It may be misleading but much of the general public gets freaked about this sort of thing. They only need to see a cache of guns and explosive looking things and they make the mental connections. Basically most people are ignorant about guns and such. The media feeds into it because they want exciting stories and the reporters are usually liberal and firearm ignorant.

I suspect, and this is just my opinion, that the worm is turning. I find it very likely that the Democrats will run all 3 branches of government come the next election. I have my suspicions that they will turn any incident like this into a policy making crusade. Karl Marx knew good propaganda and this story is just red meat for the anti-anything that goes bang crowd.

A plastic container with some sort of explosive in it? I have that in the basement. It's labelled Vhita Vouri.

(Yes, I know, smokeless powder is a propellant, not an explosive, but hey - we're talking about talking heads here)

Gunpowder from firecrackers?

Bombs from firecracker powder and 100kiloton Nukes from scraping the stuff off of smoke detectors.

What will they think of next.....

I think I just threw up a little watching Sheppard Smith LOSE HIS MIND over this.

While watching FOX News Shephard Smith said he that whether or not it's a "9mm Assault Rifle" that's what the police have called it, so to be fair it's not necessarily the media hyping it up the police themselves said that it was an "9mm assault rifle." Oh and it could be some sort of handmade grenade... he did have the Anarchist's Cookbook.

The "grenades" are improvised bombs he was making using metal ball bearings and black powder. One had a fuse and was ready to go, and at least two more were partially finished. So no, they weren't traditional "grenades", but they sure as hell weren't airsoft or paintball toys either.

Oh great, now they're going to ban airsoft too, aren't they? Just like Britain and Australia.
