I bought some 7.62x51 from my buddy JWarren the other day and it just came in the mail...It is supposed to be Lithuanian surplus, and J even said that this is the link he got it from.

The only problem is, it's not the same battlepack as the lithsurp I am familiar with...I'd hate to open it up to find out, because I have so much loose .308 lying around and I like to keep my ammo nice and snug in a battlepack whenever I have a chance.:)

Here are some pictures...The top battlepack is the Lithsurp I am familiar with and the bottom one is the one J sent me...The sticker peeled off and that last picture was all that was left...I'd be willing to wager that someone here can help me out.

(BTW, JWarren in no way, shape, or form tried to deceive me and told me if I don't want it I can send it back with a full refund + shipping)

I'd say South African as well with that style of carry-handle - the colour is a bit weird, though - it should be mid-to-dark brown. There are 7 boxes of 20 rounds (140 total) in one of those.

Port, assuming that it is really an OD color rather than the blueish hue it has on my screen.

Looks like the Portugese to me too. It's good stuff.

Here is a picture of some from a gunbroker ad, just to have a different photo....

There are definately 10 boxes of 20 in here, so that rules out SA...So it's port? Not too familiar with it, is it brass and boxer?

Oh, and yes it is OD w/ maybe a little extra brown.

Yes it's brass, berdan primed, non corrosive, all that standard milsurp stuff.

When it was available it was about as good as you could get.

You will have no worries with that stuff.

If its port, its probably brass and berdan. I picked up a crate of Port a few years ago for a very good price, though its packaged a bit differently:D

My Crazy Horse MK14 SEI Mod 0 shoots sub MOA with Port surplus - it's that good.

I would venture a guess that it is either Portuguese or Malaysian. Any one familiar with Malaysian battle pack markings? Tried googling with no success.

Thanks you guys.... you guys rock!

We're trying to make sure that I don't screw Bazooka Joe over on a ammo sale.

Wow, that is good...Too bad it's berdan primed.

Yeah, well I don't know if I'd worry too much about that really.

Sure it would be nice to have reloadable NATO brass but the ammo is such high quality it might be worth overlooking that problem.

With the availability of ammo today you really gotta think hard about passing up on just about any deal at all.

If you decide you don't want it send me a PM :)

By the way how is the Lithuanian shooting in your rifle?

I'm keeping it, me and J are all square.

Tex, the Lithuanian is fantastic...Just that one stuck case I talked about awhile ago has been the only issue...Now that I've tweaked my LR308, I'm begining to see how accurate that Lithsurp really is!

Likewise - I bought a single 200-round BP of Port a year ago at a gunshow for $50 ... and declined to buy a second for the same price. Aieeee :banghead:

I do have a single BP of South African left, though - I can't shoot it, though, because it's my preciousssss.... :D

I bet this Portugese beats it by quit a bit
:what:

Then I probably won't find out for awhile...Since it's not reloadable I'll sit on it for awhile while I get my stockpile of x51 brass up(I'm on the verge of starting to reload...Still slowly collecting components).

I love ammo...All shapes and sizes:p

I'm down to five, and I feel the same way.
