How to remove the ruger billboard warning

Basically what I was trying to say is, does altering a factory correct firearm hold it's value. In other words given the choice between a standard factory correct and an altered gun, ie. no billboard, would you be willing to pay the same for both. I'm not taking into account any haggling. Assume that the model became a collector piece. Like a Flattop or a Tripple lock(S&W),where you would have to "step up"to buy one. Would they be the same to you. I personally think they look better without, but I wouldn't want to disturb the value of the piece. No, it wouldn't be worth as much to me, all else being equal.

Altered firearm = altered value

No they would not retain the same value. Any alteration would take it out of the realm of collectibility and make it a shooter.

I've had three M77's and still have one. It has been rebarreled to .257 Ackley years ago. I didn't like that roll mark either..........Essex

YOU removed the warning and it MIGHT come back to haunt you.
Sheesh. If you're that worried about it, put all your assets into a trust, then you own nothing. Nobody will sue somebody who owns nothing.

removing a warning label MIGHT (note I said might) leave you open for a lawsuit if you sold the gun and a subsequent owner had an AD resulting in injury or death.

I don't sell guns.

I also don't buy rugers because model for model other companies produce similar or better products. I refuse to budget a trigger job with the rifle when other companies supply a rifle with a trigger serviceable out of the box. Why should I?

No idea. I clicked on the link itself... however, just for fun i actually went through the ruger catalog a couple of days ago and removed every single warning or bit of legalese I could find. If i could find somewhere to host the file (pdf format) i would be more than happy to upload it.

Ruger put the warning on the guns precisely because they WERE sued (and lost) with the old model Blackhawk because some idiot loaded it with six rounds. It used to be that before a person would buy a gun (or a lawnmower, or a cup of hot coffee, for that matter), they would go to the trouble of learning how to use it. But nowadays the courts feel that a fool is deserving of compensation as the result of his folly. Don't blame Ruger. Blame the courts, lawyers, judges and the moronic juries.

Oh I'm not blaming Ruger, I just think its ridiculous that our legal system encourages people to be incompetent, so much so that a company has to make such a silly looking manual even though 99 percent of people aren't going to do things such as "Never Climb A Tree Or Fence With A Loaded Firearm".

Search Feature vs Necromancy?

Yeah.

New threads is always best.

That way we can beat on the guy for not using the Search Feature!

"Hey, what about the Ruger Billboard? Iz that lame or what!?"

"Use the Search, Luke, we only have eleventy thousand threads on this! Gawd. Noobs!"

:D

Will ruger do warranty work on a gun with missing label?

seeing as how often rugers need warranty work . . .

[s&w guy heads for cover]

:what:

kidding aside even if you intend to keep all your guns, i bet they'd have an issue working on one without the billboard

I don't know how to quote on this site, and see no buttons to do so.

[Here, try this:]

I know for a fact a drunken fool shot himself in the foot in the mid 80's with a Ruger Single Six with the Bible on it. The fool hired a lawyer. In court the fool who had been a 3 time looser for DUI won the case against Ruger for over a million bucks. All that did was cost us, Ruger and the fool was a millionair for a few months. Needless to say he spent the money as if it was water, on toys. he bought cars and motorcycles and other things he couldn't even drive in his own yard! I was unfortunate enough to meet this fool, and nothing has changed since I met him that would change my mind, even today.

So Bible or no Bible any fool can win a law suit.

Last I was trying to see the link for the How To and it appears to be gone.

Would or could someone who read it mention just How? please?? Or post a new link?

Me I have Rugers pre Bible and post Bible, and I don't like the Bible.

I was so angry about the idiot signage on my stainless Vaquero I put it on the bench grinder and took it off. Then polished it some. It looks better but definately has that machined look. I really love that revolver but there are limits.

I will not purchase another Ruger until that idiocy is gone. It is really insulting.

BTW, the OP link has been removed for some odd reason. Why do I suspect Ruger intimidation?

I guess I'm just plain DISHONEST, 'cuz I own rough, tough, reliable Rugers - bible and all. I don't frame 'em and hang 'em on the wall to stare at, I use them. If you're so busy staring at the "bible" I guess you need a dainty, pretty S&W. Just my take on a non-question.
