The top one is the P.C. 629- the grips look more comfortable if a little cheaper than those on the 21, and I prefer its matte S.S. over the nickel finish, but I do like the classic's 4" barrel vs. 3", its tall F.S. They are 38 & 37 oz respectively, and the P.C. model is about $100 more expensive. It's a tossup to me. Depending on how much P.c. actually means a nicer revolver vs. marketing & a nice Al case would tip the scales, so I'm looking for F.B. in that regard.

Walnut's nice too. Do these grips fit on the P.C. model above?

I just bought that performance center 629 Carry Comp, I pick it up next week in 2 days, I know a few folks that own one and they talked me into it, it also comes with another set of grips to soften the recoil, it is an awesome revolver and I cant wait to shoot mine, I would go with it if I were you but I am biased, the Performance center revolvers mean more to me, they have a lot more work put into them and the aluminum case they come in is worth the extra coin in my opinion, also you can get several styles of grips for it on the web :)

That I was not aware of, extra grips- any clue what type they are? Rubber wrap-around style? Thanks for the F.B. willis and congrats on the 629. Please let us know how it shoots.

Here is a picture, my dealer sent this to me, it shows the rubber grips, this is my first revolver, i am an avid 1911 collector, but I have enough of them and I really like the Smith and Wesson wheel guns, I will be getting a 357 magnum, and a 500 magnum to complete my revolver thirst. the picture here is not the one I was sent, I cannot find it, when I get mine I will post a picture of what all it comes with and let you know how I like it,

That rubber does look like a more comfortable grip, and the wood actually looks nicer there than in the stock photo (thanks for sharing). When I first started shooting, I was revolvers only, but quickly discovered that semi autos were more comfortable and accurate in my hands. Moved to Sig/GLOCK/H.K. etc exclusively, but that S&W P.C. .44mag has really caught my eye. WIth it I figured I could give revolvers another chance, something more high end than what I had (I.E. Ruger and Taurus). Maybe a P.C. will be a more fair representative. I would get the S&W .45 A.C.P. revolver (also from their P.C.) if it didn't have "J.M." printed all over it. Minor nit-pick. And not to carry of course, but just for fun. That thing does look like fun.

Willis, what are your opinions on the "comp"?

As far as the comp, I shot one of these a while back, and The compensation tamed the recoil to my liking, it also looks cool on this particular revolver, For me anyway this is the best 44mag that they offer at the moment, and the fact that it is a performance center model sealed the deal for me, here are more pictures

I'd take the extra sight radius, but whether you like the comp or not that is one SHARP design for it. N.T.M. less recoil. I also really like the S.S.'s low level of polish. It's all business but looks GOOD.

Yes, I thought you may like that design, they are awesome guns, I would have had mine already but Smith and Wesson promised delivery to my dealer tommorow, I cant wait to get it :)

How does it shoot?

It's been a while since anyone posted here on this thread. I've checked back here quite a few times hoping to see some more posts.

I'm considering this gun (the S&W 44 mag. n frame "carry comp") for purchase and carry.

I'm wondering if anyone has shot it yet and if anyone has carried it yet.

How's the comp feature work? Is it much louder than normal? How's the trigger?

ETC. ETC. ETC.

Thanks!

MARV
