Nothing beats 7.62 and .45ACP

"7.62: reach out and touch. .45ACP: the +p+ votes have it." I 've been accumulating (REAL gun-lovers don't "hoard") LOTS of ammo, and by trading at the right times have begun to sell off all sizes except my Desert Eagle (can take any 1 of 4 calibers right now), 4 Glock .45ACPs in various guises and sizes, and my bring-back REAL AK (don't ask) and three of its Bulgarian semi- clones, plus a pair of trick SKS from back in the day when folding stocks went for $29.95. A KelTec P-11 and Marlin Camp-carbine, both 9x19, round out my list of calibers. (Is 12 gauge a caliber??) But my BOB only has enough space to support the AK/SKS' and Glock's fodder. Glocks can be suppressed if needs be. If I could find a Marlin C.C in .357 (S&W magazines) I'd find room for my Eagle in .357mag also, and swap my P-11 9x19 barrel for the .357 barrel option. Carries heavy, but 7.62, .45ACP, .357 Mag would fill the bill for preservation, protection, and feeding. Then maybe a Serbu Shorty on the thigh. Just for entertainment.

AR and 1911. The AR is a weapons platform. Change the upper and you've got another critter on your hands. It can be a 5.56mm rifle/carbine/pistol, a 9mm SMG (with the right lower), or a 6.8 or even .50 Cal. rifle. As for the 1911, it feels better in my hands.

While NOT listed as an option, FAL and 1911 would be my first choice, followed by M1A and 1911. Given the options however, AR and 1911 gets my vote. ALL of the choices have pros and cons, but there are a kazillion AR's and accessories (aka spare parts) out there. And the 1911? Well, because it's a 1911 and God intended it to be that way:D. And now for the sparks and gasoline ladies and gentlemen..............

I voted AR and 1911.

I've never cared for the grip angle on the Glock; it doesn't feel right when I shoot it. If it's not comfortable when you're at the range it will be even less when the SHTF.

I also agree with what others have posted on the AR .... simply pop out two pins and I've got a different caliber if I need it.

i picked the ar15 because i dont like metal guns
i picked the 1911 because i dont like plastic guns

Glock and gas impingement AR. Would consider M9/92 FS if it was an option. guess it kinda gives away where i received weapons training.:)

I've had or have all of the above combinations.

While I absolutely love my 1911, I went with AR and Glock.

As I figure it, those have the most available parts/magazines as well as ammunition commonality-- since my Glock is 9mm and my 1911 is 45.

AK and Glock.

Though the AK wouldn't be my first choice in a rifle, it is IMO a better choice than the AR, and the Glock while again not my first choice, is a better choice than a 1911.

This is due to what I perceive to be reliability and ergonomic factors which favor these weapons. They just fit me better, and they go bang without a lot of trouble.

I picked AK (7.62) and Glock (10mm) since that is what I own, but I wouldn't hesitate to have AR and 1911. Its kind of like asking "what is better, chocolate or vanilla ???". Its a matter of taste said the dog...

Definitely AR & 1911; second place AK & 1911.

Its kind of like asking "what is better, chocolate or vanilla ???". Its a matter of taste said the dog...

I would have to disagree. It's not matter of taste, but a matter of fact that the Glock has an unnaturally high grip angle. It's not a matter of taste, but a matter of fact that the Glock uses parts materials inferior to the vast majority of other *polymer* guns, let alone a first rate gun like a 1911. It's not a matter of taste to pay more for an inferior plastic gun than a Taurus 24/7. YMMV. :)

As the AR and Glock represent modern (space age) materials, they'd be the only ones I have if forced to choose.
Firearms are primarily tools to me.

However, I love the old school feel of 1911 handguns and AK rifles.

AR an Glok for me. 23 and 27, whenever possible I carry both, but they are durable, reliable, and ht as har as I an hope for from a pistol. AR plaform I am just more famliar with, and is pretty accurate for me out to probable ranges in my part of the country. Really, te two military ranges in my state are both 25 meter ranges, if that tells youwhat distances we are likely to engage at. I like te apacity, compact dimesions, reliability, corrosion resistance, and shootability of the Glocks I have.

ill take the Kalashnikov. its not the most produced gun in the world for no reason. And also the glock. cause its not the most popular handgun in the world for no reason.
I love it when people say plastic is inferior. It is an ignorance like no other. Even AR's have plastic in them. Better change that inferior gun to one with no plastic in it.

I own 1 glock and 1 AK.

I own 5 1911s and three ARs...
Even AR's have plastic in them.
While I'm not going to argue about plastic pistols (I have two), that's kind of an apples to oranges comparison. The only plastic parts you'll find on an AR are the grip, stock, and handguards. Maybe the triggerguard on the lower end models.

AR & 1911

That said, my second choice would be whatever the hot chick in Dollhouse uses, what is used in Burn Notice, or used in Life.

I don't know squat about Video Games, but I are having a good time with Hulu.

*smile*

For me, if it hits the fan... and I have to grab two weapons, (one pistol, one rifle), I'm grabbing my glock 17 over either of my two 1911's due to,IMO, reliability, clip capacity, and ability to haul more 9mm than .45's. It is then going to be a VERY difficult decision b/w my Bushmasters AR or my Romanian AK...probably taking the AR.

AR and a Glock 10mm. No reason to own a 1911 in .45 when I have a 10mm :)

Now if I could find a S&W 1006 then I may reconsider. But for having enough 'punch' and reliability I am happy with my Glock.

AR or AK? either, but I went for an AR since you can get any configuration you want, plus they are more accurate than the average AK.

I can think of one reason... ammo :)

agree completely

Accuracy was major in my decision as well. Its possible to shoot 600+ yards accurately with an AR... not so much with an AK.
