maybe something like those rimfire matches that GVNWST does every month?

maybe different classes for 16 and under, 20 and under, and open?

maybe could shoot 5 - 5rnd groups at some 2" targets or something?

if anyone is interested maybe someone could help me come up with some targets, or even use the same one gvnwst uses, and his same rules?

sure, i would.
i have run these competitions in the past, and for ar's, especially scoped ar's, or any varmint-class rifle, you need to make the degree of difficulty such that scoring a target is possible.

my ar's and varminters are not unique in that a 10 shot 100 yard benched and bagged group is not possible to score accuractely because you can only account for 3-5 holes...

i'd participate.

easy to solve the scoring problem: shoot offhand, 10 rnds, paper plate @ 25 yrds.

i don't really care about bbl length. 10.5, 16, 17, 18, 20, whatever.

I'd be in.

Don't think barrel length matters too much. Optics/No Optics is the only thing I would class.

ok, its a bit late for a may tourny so i will start it in june.

i dont have access to a 25yd rifle range, but i do have a 50 and a hundred.

what i could do to keep it simple is have a 50yd iron sight category, and a hundred yard scoped, maybe. im open to suggestions on targets/scoring

any barrel/config, as long as its either 50yd irons, or 100yd scoped.

could you take part in those categories taliv? and if i put it up on june 1 could you or another mod sticky it?

i could ask my range master to let me shoot on the 25, but i hate to ask him to bend his range rules.

need input

Would this be an actual meet or postal / email scanned target results? If either of the latter I'd be up for it.

no, not a meet, just for the high road.

im checking into printable targets right now.

You need to use a paper plate or sumpin similar that everyone has access to and is a BIG STD size. If you do printable you'll exclude me as wall as many others.

You must make your match as simple and as easy as possible or folks won't shoot in it

ok, i found a printable one that could be easily duplicated on a paper plate.

its just a 2 inch circle in the middle, with another ring 1" outside that one, then one more ring 1 inch outside that one.

so basically, a bullseye, with 2 rings 1 inch apart.

it would be really easy to draw, and wouldnt have to be perfect for those without a printer, or could be printed off by those that can.

i think we could have 3 classes.

one for 25yds standing, one for 50yds irons, and one for 100yds scoped.

we could use any ar config at any of the ranges.

Which will look like a piece white of printer paper with iron sights at any range beyond 25yds.

I'm tellin ya paper plate, simple and everyone likes them. I tried printable targets for other matches and in the process set myself up for a failure in terms of participation

that would be fine, but how would we score it? cuz i can hit a paperplate 10 out of 10 times, everytime.

(lol, i cant believe i didnt see that coming!!!!!!!)

ok, its on, starting june 1.

can we sticky it mods?

i should have looked at your sks match rules first but i didnt.

that works for me, and everyone can take part in it too.

You're more than welcome to copy paste all my rules and make changes if you wish. It may be helpfull if you start another topic to outline the diffrent classes and cover everything in one post.

It may be neat to see which 50yd alphabet soup match comes out on top, AR, AK or SKS

excellent, i will definitly do that.

make sure you do the sks match again in june because i could get into that.

im going to match your rules exactly, and im also going to add a 100yds scoped category and allow bench shooting for it so the benchrest ar guys can show off, lol.

edit: i just saw you already have the june match up, so im in for that one.

I modified some of my rules to put my match more in line with what you propose. Should help with participation. See my last post on the AK/SKS match

Don't have one and can't (ie. won't) afford one, unfortunately.

/even if I could find ammo
