3 Inland Carbines, top one has a Winchester barrel.

1 (of 2) HRA Garands, looks to have new wood.

I've been frantically waiting for my order to arrive, and it finally did to day.

CMP ROCKS!!!!!!! How long did you wait? YOU did get lots of ammo right?
The Garand looks like a Service Grade, right now if you want one, Service grade, you have to order by mail an wait about a half year now.

All are Service Grade, I bought them to shoot. Not sure what the muzzles and throat erosion grade. I'd assume they are to CMP's spec as listed on their site?

Anyhow, 61Chalk. All of these were ordered at the same time. Order was received 3/12/2009

Never got a processing to shipping update like they said I would though.

Order shipped 6/17/2009

Unless CMP has changed shipping/ordering/availability since then, it wasn't a year for the Garand to ship.

Oh, and yes, I ordered a bit of ammo too, but haven't had that part of the order filled yet. Bought 1,000 rds of .30 and about the same of 30.06. I'll reload for them as well so its a good bit to start with. :)

I'd assume they are to CMP's spec as listed on their site

As would I, but IIRC, it is a "less than" type spec.

Sometimes you can get lucky - I got a Field Grade that was less than 2 at the muzzle and less than 1 at the throat.

I wouldn't worry about it, I am sure it will shoot well. Like you said, it will be to CMP specs, and I think that by their grading system, a SG muzzle will be less than a 3, and the throat will be less than 5. That one you have in the pic looks great, btw.

They make special guages to test the MW and TE. You can find guages around, but they usually run at least $40 I think, and they are not worth it to me personally.

Some people do the "bullet test" by taking a bullet and seeing how far it will go down the muzzle. The less it will go down = less muzzle wear. I want to say that I read something about that being a no no to do, but I can't find it, and I'm not 100% anyways.

I was just curious about them - I might have the chance to be near the North Store soon with some money to burn, so I was just kind of checking things out - I'd love to get a rifle that looks as nice as yours that is a good shooter.

I got one not too long ago, and it's awesome. I love to shoot it. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I have no doubts that you will love yours as well.

great looking rifles. i really need a couple of cmp carbines.

when i went to get mine, i took great care to get the best barrels and muzzles i could get, and ended up with 2 garands that read 1.5

after a while ive learned that a garand can read really bad at the muzzle and shoot like a match rifle.

those old rifles just shoot straight for some reason.

i just love mine.

congrats on yours.

everytime i see a family of carbines like yours it just makes me want them even more.

CONGRATS! I hope my Inland comes with the non-potbelly stock... my NPM has the potbelly.

Nice looking rifles. My service grade HRA looks about the same as yours... amazing what new wood will do to an old warhorse.
