Approximate retail asking price for a 1988 dated rifle in better than average condition with one 5(?) round magazine and no scope rings. How much should I expect to pay for one of these rifles?

They are still running $600+ on GA, but before the boom you could get them for low $500ish. I don't think they are worth more than that.

You can get a brand new one, with all the improvements (and with scope rings), via CDNN for $570 + local FFL transfer fees. So I personally couldn't see paying more than $400ish for one like you describe.

This one is being offered for $375.00, haven't made up my mind as I'm not a fan of semi auto rifles and I already have a good 223 bolt gun.

I have had several and still own 2 14s and a mini 30. the early series are not too accurate believe me, but I do have friend that got lucky and his is an older model and it is a helluva shooter with 1" groups, my new mini 14 tactical shoots that good also. the mini 30 has the accuracy of an AK. I wouldnt pay more that $350 for that one you describe, for about $250 more you can get a brand new one with the more accurate barrel. no matter for me I just love the mini 14's, love the look and the dependability plus they are American made.
