LMAO! This could FINALLY make a "golfer" out of me. Is it still polite to yell "fore" when using this contraption? Do you think they'd let me take one to a driving range? Oh the possibilities...

Now wait a minute. The GSG-5 SD was recalled because the threaded can on the end of the barrel did not have a shroud around the barrel. The ATF claimed it qualified as a silencer even though it had no material to silence.
On January 2010 American Tactical Imports Inc received official notification from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives that the original barrel shroud (aka: fake suppressor) supplied with your GSG 5 SD model must be replaced. It has been determined that this shroud is regulated under the National Firearms Act. American Tactical will provide a replacement shroud at no charge for each GSG 5 SD model sold or currently in inventory.
Consumers in possession of a GSG 5 SD model with the original shroud in place on the firearm are now in violation of the NFA. To avoid continued violation of the NFA, ATI asks that all persons in possession obtain a replacement shroud as soon as possible. We anticipate arrival of the new shrouds to begin by the middle of February 2010.

One of the local guys has one and they're too much fun (you think ammo is expensive, wait until you find you've run out of golf balls!).
 
One of the guys at our shoots bring one of those all the time. They can be really fun. I have thought about getting one myself.
 
can you just imagine a couple med grads heading out to the range
with a couple of those and having some off duty cops out to bang a
few balls see them cruizing across the course?

expecially if there turned around and firing.

i dunno. when i was 15 i would have said "ooohhh, coool man"!! but
the responsable adult now says there is something major wrong with this.

i just dont see freddy couples wippin' this outta his bag!

Why would it be a joke? my buddy has a dummy launcher for his dogs that uses .22 blanks. The same ones used for driving cement nails.

I was wondering the same thing. possibly alternative to less lethal shotgun rounds in riot disbursement?
 
hello all. can't resist this thread for my first post.

I think this could be great for launching galf balls out to use as targets for precision shooting. :)

The reason this is not the same as the ATI SD thing is that this is just a giant flash hider. it is just a cup on the end of the barrel. does not reduce noise or flame, just redirects it out front. if it had a front cap, yes it would be a suppressor (but then it could not launch gold balls.) the ATF frowned on the ATI SD because without the inner liner on the fake suppressor, all anyone had to do was drill vent holes in the barrel.........
