They brought out the CW series as the "budget" versions of the P series.

Think they'll ever have an equivalent for the PM series?
I think the market would really support it. It would be the only real alternative to KelTec's PF9 and the Taurus Slim for under $500.

Just a thought. Discuss amongst yourselves.

You could always just cut down the buttstock of the CW to PM length and use the shorter mags.

It is actually a very cool conversion...much like the Nighthawk T3, with the Commander slide on an Officer ACP frame

The CW9 size wise is made to compete with the 709/PF9/LC9/PPS9 and does a fine job in beating those guns in quality and trigger pull.
The PM/MK line is a step above all those and in the Rohrbrogh realm.

Next time you get a chance dry fire a Kahr, They have the best DAO trigger ive ever felt on a semi auto. And ive actually out shot my modified and tuned 1911 SAO triggers with my MK9 and im a 1911 guy all the way.

I paid $700 for my gun and spent more on wood grips and a mag base with and added all steel recoil spring setup from Wolff, Thats alot of money for such a small 9mm gun that holds 6+1.
But if you look at the market its beats everything in size, trigger and quality except the Rohrbough which is $1k

Honestly im no elitist, Both of my 1911's cost under $550 each. But i wanted the smallest 9mm that had high quality for back pocket carry and only the PM/MK line could do that.

I do want to see just how much larger the Sig P290 is as i almost held out for that gun but i couldn't wait that long before it was released.
I loved the Sig P238 except i wished it were a 9mm.

Kahr has had its bugs and rough times and has worked threw them and are showing their guns are worth the money they ask for them.
As a matter of fact my MK9 is the first gun i ever owned i WONT touch and do a trigger job on, Its actually better than anything i could do and would only screw it up.

Just to show how small it is i can only get 2 fingers on the grip even with the small polymer base added.

I know you asked about the CW and a budget line, But thats what the CW is.
Its in the same size and weight category as the others i mentioned, But it just dosnt have as much feature wise or machining as the PM/MK line. But the Quality is the same.

Interesting. Was curious about this issue, and I really hope they do come out with budget versions of their other lineups.

I LOVE my K40. It's my go-to carry pistol. I'm generally a huge fan of Kahr, and plan to get a P9 soon.

Guillermo, why do you wish your PM9 were a P9? I have a CW9 which I really, really, like and am thinking the PM9 will be my next pistol. Any insight you can provide would be appreciated.

PM9 is reliable and easy to carry but you can only get two fingers on the grip. Follow up shots are not as fast and accurate as I would like.

Of course I use the extended magazine but then what is the point to the smaller gun?

As I mentioned before, except for perhaps ankle or boot carry I can't imagine the CW/P9 size guns being any harder to conceal. But they are A LOT easier to shoot well.

The last PM9 I bought was $589 out the door. Not $500....but worth every penny. It is small...but dang is it a soft shooter. I can shoot it as fast and accurately as most of my mid and full size handguns.

Why would Kahr come out with a real budget gun? As others have pointed out they already have guns in the sub $500 market. You have the CW9.

Everything should not be a race to the bottom. Kahr sells a lot of pistols on the concept of "quality". Keltect sells a lot of guns on price. They have taken opposite approaches to reach the gun buying public.

I am not huge Kahr fan but I think it is better to hold a higher margin quality postion for as long as you can. Once you start down that road it may help you move product but the your margin will suffer.

I don't have really big hands, but the CW9 isn't too small...I'd think anything smaller would be hard to hang onto

...in two hands, it almost disappears

...unless they're hands like my 9 y.o. daugther's

The CW9 is a hair smaller than the Springfield EMP

Will Kahr ever come out with a "budget" micro?
NO.
If your company has a reputation for making high quality products, and you are selling all you can make, why dilute that image with a cheapo?

I bought a PM45 about 4 months ago and have not looked back since. I don't consider myself a "fanboy" of any particular brand and it usually comes down to quality, dependibility mixed in with some price. Owned Glocks, Sigs, Springfield, even a Bersa and a Taurus. For what it's worth I think the Kahr is worth every nickel and IMHO I would rather save a bit longer to have a quality firearm like the Kahr, anything budget labeled may open some up for a bad situation to get worse when things go wrong.

Since we're just discussing things freely here I was wondering about carry comfort with the CW 9 along with reliability. I have an M&P 9c which I trust but it could stand to be a bit less bulky.

I spotted the CW at my local GS the other day and was shocked by the price, I always assumed these things were carried by Robin Leech, aparently I was wrong. Thought for the price I might gift one to dad to get him carrying again (his GP 100 and 1911 just aren't hip friendly anymore). Lefty friendly or will he eat brass?

It's funny. I JUST found out about the CM9. I promise, I had no idea Kahr was actually doing it already when I wrote the initial post!!!!!!

I guess that answers my question. Onward, to ponder other mysteries of the universe!

Value is determined by the quality recieved compared to the amount paid. Many of the "budget" 9mms handguns out there aren't worth the price you pay for admission.

The CW line of Kahrs is a great value! I have the PM9 and the CW45 and while there's nothing wrong with the PM9, lately I find myself carrying the CW45 the majority of the time. I have even considered adding the CW9 and the CW40 to the lineup because of the quality of the guns.

Here's a pic to get an idea of the size diff. in the two models. The CW45 is a little dirty as I took this after coming home from the range. CW45 top, PM9 bottom.

I don't see why they don't have a CWM9 or something to that effect. Sure the CW9 is compact, but there is significant difference in size between that gun and the PM9 if you want a pocket gun. It's not like it would be a huge change in design to make the pm9 in cw fashion.
