The return of a legend - the Sig P210

I've got 3 Performance Ctr Smiths' and they have beaten every Sig210 that I've ever shot against in PPC.

Guns don't shoot targets. People shoot targets.

I'm not sure THAT is a true gun vs. gun comparison. Shooting from a rest would be a more meaningful test of gun vs. gun competence. You may just be a better competitive shooter than some of the other guys you're shooting against. I've seen some other guys take my guns and shoot them far better than I can.

I had a S&W 52-2 that was pretty close to the P-210-6, and it really had a marvelous trigger. I've never encountered another S&W that was even close to that 52-2, including several Performance Center 5906s owned by some shooting buddies, and two newer 952s.

I would love to own the new p210. Love to. Mine's been on order, and promised for delivery in January, "for sure in February." "for sure in March", "for sure in April."

The jerking around prospective owners are getting on this pistol has become a pain in the butt. I expect that I will still be delighted when it comes, but this is baloney.

I've never had a seirous interest in one of these but that is certainly cool that Sig is making them again. They certainly have a dedicated following.

Guys with Rolex on their wrist and Mont Blanc in their pocket will be all over these.

How much better can it really be than my custom 1911?

It goes BANG every time I pull the trigger, puts the bullet right where the sight is and is more accurate than anyone can shoot off hand. What more can you ask a pistol to do?

As the owner of 2 210's and a passel of Baer's, I would comment that while I can see your point, the 210 is different. Custom 1911's are common, all of the decent ones feel about the same to me which is why I have several of them.

210's just are fit and finished nicer. The polish on the inside of my 210 is better than the outside of my Baer's. I just feels great in the hand.

Is it more accurate than the Baer's? Well, that is hard to say. My 210-5 is really close to my 1.5" 10mm Baer. The 210-5 has a longer sight radius and crisper sights so for me it is easier to shoot more accurately but it is harder to produce match grade 9mm ammo in my opinion.

At teh end of the day, I shoot both. If I want to shoot a 45 I grab a 1911. If I am going to shoot a 9mm I grab a 210 in general.

It's interesting that they are bringing back the old stuff.

The P220 is the gun you draw when your tank has been knocked out of action, you are half-covered in diesel fuel, and you need to plug three Russian conscripts one-handed.

The P210 is the gun you guard the border with in a dress uniform.

Yet it only comes in 9MM. I belive that I will take a reliable combat accurate .45 over ANY 9MM, if people were shooting at me.

Same Price as a Freedom Arms Model 83

I paid the same for this:

in .454 Casull with a .45 Colt fitted cylinder.

M7 G19 serves my 9mm purposes just fine.

That is exceptional revolver and worth every penny . The only complaint I had is that after 250 to 300 rounds of .45LC it had to be thoroughly cleaned because the cylinder would not rotate any more. Switching from lead .45LC loads to .454 w/o proper cleaning will likely lead to cylinder damage and that is about $300 if I recall correctly. Wish they made one on Bisley type frame.

The measured cylinder gap is .0015 for the .454 and less (couldn't get the .0015 feeler in the gap) for the .45 Colt. This is a recipe for crudding up and causing cylinder rotation problems. I will only shoot copper plated and jacketed in this gun, no lead (for this reason as well as lead exposure health concerns).

I just got this gun (after waiting for nine weeks for the special order), so have not shot it yet.

And I completely agree on the Bisley frame for this, it would make it a lot more comfortable to shoot the big loads. I have a Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt and it is awesome.

Sorry for the hijack. Back to the P210 discussion.

I bet so will the dudes with Luminox watches and Bic steel pens.

Not this Luminox/steel pen guy... not at $2700 anyway. That's about double my limit on a single handgun.

As much as I'd love to raid my daughter's college fund for this beauty, I think I'll just continue to drool.

I will say it's very refreshing to see Sig offer these though; they're absolutely gorgeous.

I can understand the alligator shirt thing, but I don't believe respect for something fancy lasts if it is not quality. The few p210s I have seen fit together like a watch, something wholly more precisely than most pistols. I have not shot one, but they are said by all to be very accurate, and no doubt more accurate than I am, anyway.
Things that people have taken the time to make right have always interested me, and I think I will love mine, if it arrives while I am on this side of the grass.

I was actually talking about myself but it's good to know there are other like-minded gun enthusiasts out there :)

I would love to have one. Maybe I'll sell one of my Rolexes, and buy a few or more.

"I belive that I will take a reliable combat accurate .45 over ANY 9MM, if people were shooting at me."

I believe I'd take a rifle. Just because a gun doesn't interest you doesn't make it a bad idea or even useless.

It seems like the stereotype may have been correct. The owner of the Sig P210 in the youtube video linked in Post #37 was wearing a Panerai watch that goes for at least $7k.

Also, I noticed that he could not afford furniture, after the purchase of the watch and the gun.

I jest, of course. It is a beautiful gun. I would love to have one, but I don't know about no damn $2k. If I'M only capable of maybe 4" at 25 yards, what good does a 2" @ 50 yd. gun do me?

Since the P210 is two to three times more accurate than your current gun, maybe you are capable of alot better than 4" at 25 yards.

But accuracy is not the only virtue. P210s are extremely durable. Their steel is alot harder than other pistols.
