Who'd like to see these stocks on the market?

Would you like to see any/all these stock designs on the Market?

the smk isn't the only bullet available. both hornaday & lapua also make match type bullets for them.
you might pay $2-3 per round for lapua or norma loaded ammo. the s&b match ammo averages $25-30 a box and cabelas puts it on sale a few times a year for $20.00.

as far as rebarreing goes there are more than enough bullets and barrels available in .311& .312, 10 years ago building one with a .308 bore would have made more sense.

Maybe because the .308 was more common? I guess since the mosin has made its way into practically main-stream, they're going to come up with more and more accessories and ammunition for them.

Might be able to get a start on one design as a test model, but I'm kinda hesitant with this material.

I've got a friend who might be able to get me a walnut blank. I'm not sure I want to run the risk of doing this on a blank of this quality, lol. I'll see what it looks like before I decide though.

Here one idea.
I have always thought a hard aluminum frame with a tube floating with a rail to adapt forward optics (night vision) and a simple grip and PRS stock could be simple yet robust for any systems. forget about exotic compounds and impossible slick contours.
"The wrinkle is pretty".

wow! you are fast!
yes something like that. Even easier I think you can bring a light tube all the way back. Just like an AR is held by the barrel nut or one in the receiver in this case.
A long tube makes for several nice things:

A) It provides for a long front rail.
B) It provides a nice handguard and floating support.
C) Attach other side rails as needed (modular) including the front bipod mount.

That is a nice one. It looks a lot like the axiom stocks. You might be able to modify one and just use that one in the mosin. you can probably adapt one and use some of the ideas in your next prototype.
Instead of a quad rail what I mean is a round tube with the top rail only and then the option to mount rails wherever else you need.
Just like some of the AR rails like the Troy TRX.
A quad rail is not as ergonomic as the tube and they are heavier as you end up with more rails that anyone can use.
Thanks.

I like this one, it looks NJ legal :banghead:
Seriously, they are ALL nice and I hope you could make it happen

Im just super-impressed with the work in "paint" I've never seen such detail with that program, If you can do that with paint, you can be successful at anything!

I second that, graphically speaking, and I have 15 years experience as a graphic artist/photographer... Every try your hand at any CAD?

Check this out: http://usa.autodesk.com/

If you can do that in MS Paint I can't imagine what you could potentially do in within a real 3D design program...

i've never found myself intrigued by mosins, but you've sparked my interest, i'll definitely be following this thread as this progresses. Also, your a MS paint freak! That level of detail in a pretty rudamentary program is pretty impressive. Best of luck to you, if nothing else, with the level of interest here, you may have found yourself a self-supporting hobby....don't we all wish our shooting activities were like that...

1stmarine:

Got ya, you're talking about something like a carbon fiber, or those Hogue hand guards like a large hollow tube. Got ya. I'll start drawing again! I'm always back to the drawing board. What with my ideas or yours. Soon I'll have a large catalogue full of them, lol.

HDRide: Thank you, sir! I plan on at least having three prototypes by this upcoming spring, providing all goes well. Should be up and running good, though, I don't foresee any serious hang ups.

stsimons: I did try google sketchup, but I couldn't understand it for the life of me. However, I can't try anything 3D because my only computer is a Compaq Mini Netbook (only has around an 8th of the internal memory of a typical desk-top and only a quarter of the typical lap-top. Can't complain, it was a Christmas gift, and allows me to browse here.

When sketch up was installed, computer performance plummeted, so that's out of the question. So I've been sticking with paint. I won't have any problems transfering them out to a physical object, my profession is welding. I can figure dimensions pretty well, just by looking, so I think I'll be okay.

Thanks for the support guys, I'll definately keep y'all posted. I may be looking for beta testers in the future. I already know two that I'm sure would like to test them out with me, so that's a plus.

Look at the tube of the intervention. So now think about a wider tube
all vented (very light) with the top rail and the rest you can mount.

So a thread/nut system will make it very strong and do not need to be huge
as the barrel is independent.

Also another aspect that is very interested to maximize accuracy used in many extreme long range systems is that after the action is properly bedded the scope mount is an extension of the bedding making this totally independent from touching barrel or action.

just some practical thoughts.. that's all.

That latest design is sweet as well. I wonder how it would look with the interventions handle on the bottom?
