Help me identify this gun

It's a Steven's Model 59 B, .410 Shotgun.

Thanks

It does look like the one in the picture you posted. How did you know, is it one you've owned or shot in the past?

I am going to assume it is not worth having it restored?

A professional restoration no but you might be surprised at how easy it would be to restore. I normally would tell someone to leave it as is but in this case I believe a little perma blue and some steel wool would be fine.

My catalog from Gun Parts Corp. (a couple of years old) shows most parts of that gun to be available.

It would not be cost effective to have it restored, i.e. pay a gunsmith to do it, but you would be amazed by how much you could improve it with some light rubbing with a lot of light oil and some 0000 (four-zero) steel wool.

Thanks for all the posts guys.

I have another mystery gun with rust(I think it is a .22 handgun) that I will post sometime this weekend, but I think it is a cheaper model anyway.

My quandary is going to be what to do with them. I really do not have the time or inclination to restore them myself, but I also don't want to let them deteriorate any further either.

Do you have children? If they are old enough, having them do the restoration under your supervision would be a great way to build some memories!

Vector, don't underestimate yourself. If you think 'I can't do this' you won't. Experiment, at least you won't be out huge amounts of money. Thses old shotguns were well made to take alot of abuse and little care. Mostly for rats, a rabbit or two, a troubling possum, wild cats, etc. As said befor, some steel wool, cold blueing, Break Free, really good cleaning and you would have a decent shooter.
