Would you trade for this Hi-Power?

I'd take a small loss to get rid of a non-collectible 9mm 1911 for a good, original hipower in excellent shape, every day of the week. Definitely a straight across trade, yes.
I'm biased though, since I'm looking to trade a non-collectible gun or two for a hi-power if the opportunity comes up :)

Here are some other examples. It seems to be right there in that price range.

For a good condition High Power I'd probably do it, especially if it's FN rollmarked instead of Browning.

If you want to get started getting up to speed on High Powers, try Stephen Camp's Hi Powers and Handguns website. Mr Camp (sadly, deceased a little over a year ago) was extremely knowledgeable and had a great website. Thankfully, the website is still up and hopefully will remain so in the future.

If I were a collector I would. However, I'm not a collector, so I prefer the new MKIII Hi-Power's. They have better sights, thumb safety, and barrel ramp.

I love Hipowers.
Just one comment, if you are wanting this primarily as a shooter, the early internal extractor is considered a weak link, prone to breakage.
Many folks recommend a new pistol for a range gun.

I looked at that very same pistol earlier today, and marveled at it. I have one already (from 1980). If you are a fan of classic firearms, this won't disappoint you. Mine is a high polish blue - this one looks to be parkerized.

I would do it in a heartbeat - and I already own one.

Thats not a collectable. Its been reparked. It was a police issue. I spoke with varietyshak about it. I'd do it in a heartbeat.. but feel it first. Some people like the BHP and hate the 1911, some aren't impressed with the bhp, but love the 1911, and some love or hate both.

I tried to get that one from him.. I'd do it.. but at the time he wasn't interested in my trade offer.

I have both a 1911A1 in .45 and a Hi-Power in 9mm. I am a big fan of the Hi-Power.
I also have an FEG PJK 9HP, I can tell you if I had a spare 1911 platform regardless of the Caliber and someone was willing to make the trade I would do it. In particular for the Model you would get.

What's a reason to prefer a FN-marked gun to a Browning-marked gun? Generally, folks prefer the Browning marked guns, if only because they are typically a little prettier... (cosmetically).

If you are buying it looking for a shooter I would pass. The internal extractor is getting harder and harder to come by and they are know to break.

FN makes both roll marks, Browning is just an importer. The FN roll mark just appeals to me as more authentic, though I agree that the general preference among American shooters is the Browning marked guns.

(And to be fair, the only High Power I still own is a Browning 'marked one, with some work and refinishing by Cylinder and Slide.)
