Nerf Guns.. Yup Nerf guns.

In lieu of taking an Anti out shooting I've decided the best way to make an Anti understand why I need the most effective weapon I can get is a Nerf Gun battle. :neener:

I recently dropped alot of dinero on a few dozen Nerf guns and a tub load of darts for my little brothers.

These aren't the dinky toys I grew up with though, these are Magazine fed pump action and semi auto "Assault Weapons". :neener: These things STING at room distance.

I bought a bunch of Mags for these little guys ranging from 6 to 25 rd drums.

Over the past few days I've been going to war with my little brothers

I tried an experiment. I gave my brothers only 6rd mags and revolvers. I gave myself the 12, 18, and 25 round magazines. I also gave myself the semi auto guns.

We had our own mock shootout and guess what? They were horribly out gunned, even though it was just me. We switched places and the same still happened.

So I think we should give everyone in congress and the Pro/Anti gun lobbies Nerf Guns like this and give each a turn having the Magazine limits and pump action guns. Let'em have at it! :D

We'll see how the Anti-Gunners feel about it after they've been pelted after La Pierre goes to town with a 25 round tactical dart thrower!

I have been heavily considering getting some Nerf guns, they look like lots of fun!

This could backfire easily if you're not careful about it.

"Look at how big of an advantage that 25 round magazine gave you. What if all you had were 6 shots to face down a guy with a 25 round magazine? We should ban high-capacity assault clips so that everyone is on equal ground!"

Unfortunately, its sort of a perverse, backwards, 4 rules breaking "introduction" if thats the goal.

I can very easily see the flaw in teaching youngins that its ok to point guns at each other and pull the trigger as a game... you know, because its not "real".

With that said, I love nerf guns to heaps, believe me. But there is a built in argument from the antis- and child dev folks, that this sort of soft indoctrination ( along with paintball, and airsoft....sigh) contributes to our current problem.

Much as I'd like to say I have no clue where they'd get this idea...unlike video games, I can actually see this one.

I'd like to share the advice of a commercial fisherman I know, Capt. Petey 'one eyed' Bennett:

"sure, having an eye patch makes you look like a tough guy... admitting that a six year old with a nerf gun took your eye out, not so much..."

Eye Protection, Gents.

There's two things about this... ask them if they don't want to have the advantage? If they don't there is bigger issues. I value my own life rather highly.

A criminal doesn't care though. If I abide by the law I'm taking away my possibility of a shot advantage and at best I'm equal if they're not breaking the law with their magazine. Without a restriction I could potentially have that advantage or at least be equal, not the criminal being ahead.

Then you need to start talking about the feasibility of getting rid of the magazines. Without serializing and registering a hunk of plastic and metal a ban is impotent and there's MILLIONS of these magazines out there. If they're at all reasonable they'll start to see the absurdity when they follow the thought through. If they're not... well they're lost anyway.

My 18 YO grandson got pulled over for a "safety inspection" Cop spotted evil looking gun in back seat. He got cuffed and taken away, car got towed/impounded. His dad had to go get him form police station.Once Saner people looked at it, they realized there is nothing illegal about paintball guns! Wotta day! Lesson here: Be careful carrying nerf guns.

This is exactly what I mean. If one wants to take this approach then one has to be willing to explain more or less exactly what you described, so as to make it a learning experience physically and mentally.

But if someone leaves the whole "mental learning" thing out, then they might just make some anti even more afraid of "assault clips"

Next thing you know, some ATF nimrod will be talking about his Nerf guns can be easily converted to fire real bullets, just like those air soft guns.

The problem is that the people who are really driving this nonsense don't think you should have 10 or 6 rounds, they think you should have ZERO rounds. To them, 10 round magazines is a compromise. Demonstrating that 6 rounds in a gunfight isn't enough just proves to them that you shouldn't be gunfighting at all.
