I edc a Swiss Army knife. Untactical, but very practical for opening beer bottles, cutting off hangnails, opening boxes, pickin teeth, tweezin, etc. I think mine is called Officer.

When I feel like it, I carry an Emerson knife with the wave. I love those things. I have a couple.

Not my usual carry, but I dropped this in my pocket this morning on a whim. Great knife.

Clinch Pick by Shivworks for a couple years or so now. Had it reground by Ban Tang. It's too sharp to let people handle; for some reason they have an impulse to place their thumb on the edge.

For utility, edc now is a Case Sodbuster Jr. It's a lot of fun. If I needed a stouter knife I'd pack my native 5.

These two have been finding their way into my pocket on a regular basis, even though I've been carrying a wide array of knives as of recently.

Victorinox Recruit, a simple no frills SAK that's got everything I need and nothing I don't.


Opinel 06, A really cool, and sharp knife that cuts like crazy, and is quite simplistic.

CRKT Kasper -- Mostly it's thin. Works well as a boot knife, or neck knife (both are unlawful in this state -- even w/ a CCW). Comes with two Kydex sheaths, right and left handed. Belt clip can mount either above the blade or behind the blade (High ride/low ride). Right size for utility use, unobtrusive on the belt. I like the shape of the grip and the blade.

Regarding JShirley's pick above , while an Emerson Custom Super Commander might be the schizzle, I have found my Emerson PERSIAN not so much so for EDC, at least. While wondrously made ; at least as good as a CRK Sebenza IMHO, the fierce appearing insanely sharp slicer blade just is not optimum for daily tasks.

If I am in ranch clothes then this is an excellent Heavy Duty EDC I have found. I abused it and it kept asking for more!

To be cheap and effective, I always buy Kershaw blades when they go on sale. They have never disappointed me and it gets to the point of guns...which do I bring with me today?

My latest EDC is a Micro-Tech Socom. The best knife I've ever had, and I've had many, and worth every cent I paid for it. The S35VN blade only needs a touch up if I want it hair popping sharp constantly. I use it many times a day for everything except food and anything that might scar it. Best performing knife, for me, for any money.

As an EDC, I have a Spyderco Caly 3 with Carbon-fiber grips and a laminated ZDP189/420 blade. This replaced an earlier Caly 3 with ATS-34 blade and G10 grips. It does hold an edge better, but it is harder to sharpen.

I also have multiple first aid kits, and every one has a SAK "Climber" model. I've found the bootlace tool to be a real finger-saver when dealing with climbing boots, and the ability to store a micro screwdriver inside the corkscrew has saved more than one pair of glasses with a loose screw.

I used to carry the SAK everywhere, but fasteners evolved and I found I had to open panels for inspection, on short notice, and the SAK just didn't have the right bit. So I now carry a hex bit/driver kit in a 1911 mag pouch for various screws and the Spyderco Caly 3 to deal with cardboard boxes and rope, leaving the faithful SAK in the first aid kits.

Used to carry a Leek before the clip bent out of repair, good blade o. that though, keep it in my car's ash tray as a back up. Currently carry a Buck Vantage Pro, easily the sharpest factory knife I have recieved out of box, holds a good edge, good all around knife. My only gripe is the squareish corners can become annoying if you have to clip it to a pocket that holds your phone; scrapes against your hand.

I'd highly recommend the knife, it is made in the USA to (Leek and Vantage Pro).

Spyderco Native or Endura.

Swiss Army Tinker (Victorinox) and Benchmade Mini-Griptilian. The Tinker gets the most use as my cutting chores tend to be light. it also doesn't freak out people at work (college environment).

Right now, a Spydie Manix 2, but I've got a bunch of others I can choose from. I wish more mnufacturers would make their knives ambidextrous, because I've lost a lot of fine control in my right hand (5 strokes), but I still need a knife on almost a daily basis.
