I had purchased a can of AA#9 a few years ago and its been sitting on the shelf for a while, not sure what to use it in. I originally bought it for 357 Mag, but I've stuck with 2400 & 296 in it.
So, I looked up what other calibers it was suitable for, and found data for 30 Carbine. Thought I would give it a try. Man, glad I did. I really like it MORE than 296. It meters just as well, but seems to give lower ES. Surprisingly, it also gave pretty high velocities. I'm not looking to beat up my rifle, but would like to be around 1900fps.
Accuracy was the same or better. Below is some of my test data using Rainier plated RN and some Remington SP.
I think I will settle on 12.2gr with the Rainier (1920 fps) and 12.4 gr with the Remingtons for approx 1900 fps. I think the Remingtons go slower because the bullets are undersized and measure .3065".
Max loads seem to be 12.8gr - 13.1gr, depending on the data you use.
