Placement of the Safety

Howdy Y'all
While researching the safety systems on the P08 series of Lugers I came across these pic's of two different placements of Safe & Fire. See the attachment. Are both correct? One was an Erfurt with the Gesichert (Safe) on the upper position, an UNK Navy model with Gesichert (Safe) on the bottom position.

It seems to me that the Lugers I've seen are the type on the left, however that doesn't mean that the one on the right is wrong, it could be a variation about which I'm ignorant.
 
My wife owns a P08 passed down in her family. The safety is similar to the one on the right in your attached picture. With the "fire" setting closer to the thumb/web of the hand.
