Decided to throw together a frankenstein mosin carbine, Its a Hungarian M44 that i parkerized with a cut down full length m91/30 stock with a 1917 enfield handguard and a mauser band to hold it together, for sights i opened up the front sight and modified it to resemble a Ak variant open sight, as for the rear... uncle mikes 10/32 swivel stud ghost ring deluxe :D So howd i do for 50$ haha

If it groups 3" @ 50 yds, I'd like to hunt hog with it. :)

It looks freakish, but solid with enough weight out front to swing, but not too hard to shoulder. Not a boltgunner myself, but for 50 bucks and some idle amusement, you did real good, Bubba!

That's got to be one of the most gawdawful things I've ever seen in my life.

May Olga track you down and force you to sponge-bathe her 500 lb corpulent body.

Not bad for $50 but I believe the punishment must fit the crime. :neener:

I have done worse with a couple of non-collectible grade military surplus rifles.

If the gun would either not be shot as-was, or else would be sent to Gun Parts Corp, it does not press my "Save Historic Arms" button.

Actually for a "Bubba" gun, however it was done it doesn't look that bad. I've had a handful of M44's from several countries that looked far worse than your construct.

Choot it!

I like it! It looks like something out of one of my favorite video games that was set in the post-apocalyptic world: a functioning, well-crafted firearm made from various intact components and bits. It has a certain utilitarian charm to it- the gray parkerizing is a nice touch! Good work. :)

I'd get rid of more of the stock on the bottom so it was flush. just my thoughts other wise... 50 bucks and you got a rifle that could feed your family. Not bad.

To the OP ( or anyone else it may concern ) ;

I've read about the Uncle Mike's stud for a peep conversion before on Mosin Nagant rifles . If yours is also screwed into the top of the bolt I'd be interested in knowing the steps you took in getting yours on, any problems you had along the way and once on if the bolt / peep returns to a consistent enough spot to maintain say, 3-4 " groups at 50 yards which is my normal outside distance on shots on deer I take. Also, how does one know where to exactly punch the dimple in the bolt to even get started ?

With a little red fingernail polish on the front post I can still make the issue sights on mine work but at age 56 my eyes for teeny rear sights & longer distances are starting to go south.

If it works and has decent enough accuracy, who cares how it looks. Not like it was ever going to go on display at any museum. Shoot it and enjoy it.
