Howdy

Most of my N frames are either 44 Specials or 357 Mags.

I only have 3 N frame 45s.

This nice Model 1917 shipped in 1918. When I bought it, it came with an almost full box of period ammo, United States Cartridge Company 45 ACP on half moon clips. I do not intend to shoot this antique ammo, it is part of my cartridge collection.

My other two N frame 45s are this pair of Brazilian Contract 1917s.

Boxhead, that is beautiful. Gun, grips and leather, outstanding.
I'm guessing Keith Brown grips but who did the holster?
Thanks for showing them.

Need a lot of pics please when you get it back from Fletcher.

Nice 45s, everyone!!!
This sweet shootin' 625-3 is a keeper for life. Took over two years to find one at a decent price.

I picked up a 1937 Brazilian contract model in great condition. I put some Pachmayr grips on it & have been useing it as a backup gun for hunting & backwoods excursions. I came across a good supply of .45A.R. loaded ammunition & brand new brass, about maybe 700+ all together. It should last awhile. I love shooting this gun as it is a great revolver design & shoots some great loads! Some of the S.D. .45acp. loads out today can be used out of these old guns with no worries if you stick to the right ones. And .45ar.loads can be handloaded with ease. And make some good S.D. & hunting rounds. Use to be able to pick these guns up cheap! But now people are seeing the history & value of these old guns . Might have to look for a short model next time I see a good one for sale! That 625-3 looked perfect! And it's a S&W! I do like their products!

Since I like .45 acp and .45 Colt calibers I have one of each and they aren't safe queens by any means!

Here's my one and only N-Frame .45. It is a Brazilian contract 1917, aka the Modelo 1937.

It was a gun store "rescue" that looked terrible, with grime and surface rust. I cleaned it up, installed repro stocks and lanyard loop. Shoots great. Not bad for $249!

Hey, where's S&Wfan? I'm not that big of a revolver fan, but his short barreled N-Frame in .45 Auto is one of my favorites.

Ah, I THOUGHT I heard someone calling my name! I don't get over to this forum often but I still have my favorite revolver of all time, and will never part with it either. Funny, this 1980-made 25-2 Target revolver STILL thinks it has a 6" tube . . . and shoots like it does too!!!

Fast from the holster; points perfectly; swings between targets at speed perfectly in fast, double-action matches . . . gosh, I've won a lot of matches with this moon-clipped marvel with its amazing butter-smooth custom trigger pull. The stock, ultra-wide grooved target trigger was radically narrowed, rounded and smoothed for double action shooting. Work was done by a long-deceased Savannah wheel-smith years ago. Sadly, S&W failed to see the potential in the short-barrel market so custom shops like Jovino and others gave gun enthusiasts what they wanted back "in the day!"

I added the cheezy MIM S&W "modern" cylinder latch because, as a lefty it allowed me to do really fast speed reloads during steel matches. I can actually shoot and reload it faster and better than my 1911 limited racegun! Man, what a great shooter it is!!!

^^^I love the looks of that gun, especially that nice bright blued finish, and the full length ejector rod. Many of the N-frame snubs "come up short" on ejection, using a shorter than standard rod.

Thank's S&Wfan. I never get tired of seeing pictures of that gun. The proportions of that gun have always looked "just right" to me.

I can't resist this thread.

In order of age:

A 1917 that someone made into a "belly gun". Only thing I've done is put Grashorn sheep horn stock on it since the picture was taken.

This is a commercial 1917 from the '50s I used to own.

This Model of 1955 (shipped in 1956) was shortened to a 5" barrel, done just like the factory did it with the ramp pinned to the barrel and the sight blade pinned to the ramp.

This is a custom, blue steel "Mountain Gun" in 45 ACP. Made from a M25-2 that had a Model of 1950 tapered barrel installed. Had the butt rounded and the finish fine bead blasted, ala S&W MG.

325 Might Guard. Since the picture was taken "The Plug" has been installed.

I have a stainless barrel and cylinder and am looking for a beat up M28-2 to convert to a four inch "pinto" sort of thing but in 45 ACP. (smiley face goes here)

Today I got very lucky &was given an early X-mas gift about 600-800 rds of .45A.R. brand new brass for my 1937! That gives me over 1,000 rds of brand new brass for reloading. I saw 2-boxs at the LGS. $37 for 20 rds of DPX 160gr.HP. Not for me . I will be shooting that '37' more than I thought after all! Thanks to a great friend! May all of you have friends like that! Marry X-mas All! :)
