Grip medallions

So these are the medallions I'm going to have Chris Whisler put in the Munden grips he's making. It's going to take some intricate carving to get that relief inset. In case it's not obvious, those are two silver liberty dimes that someone with crazy steady hands cut away...

I think anybody with shakey hands a cold chisel and a sledge hammer could do it.WELL maybe not.seriously they should look dynamite when they are done.
 
Actually I have to make a confession. You've all met the woman that can tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue...you know, the one you didn't marry. When it gets this cold...she also has a trick with dimes.
 
I actually saw a guy doing it.

He used to set up at flea markets around the area and cut out coins like that and sold them. Also made necklace's, bracelets, etc., with them.

He did it all with a tiny little coping saw, and tinier little jeweler's files.

But inletting them perfectly into stocks would take even more skill!

Jeweler's saw. It takes a lot of work, time and patience.

I like that 1943 one. That's my birth year.
