Turns out I live about an hour from the guy who made/makes all of Bob Munden's grips, Chris Whisler. http://chiselandplaneworkshop.com/Home.php

So the weather ever so briefly rose above the surface temperature of Mars and we made a trip to his shop. He graciously spent time with us and showed us some of his incredible work. He's a real artist and his prices are extremely reasonable.

We agreed on the style I wanted, Bob Munden Gunfighter of course, and I left him a deposit, my hand print and my freakish Buloke wood panels that I got from Australia. It's the hardest wood on the planet and weighs in more like chunks of metal than wood.

Since my ROA has a Power Custom 2-piece Colt frame I can get one piece grips. That means no grip screw...woo hoo! Ok, well maybe I get easily excited. I'm hoping he can move me up in the queue a bit since I'm local and he may be just a bit curious to see if he needs carbide to machine the wood.

I have a pair of 1924 silver dimes that were made in to jewelry by cutting away all but the rim and the outline of liberty's head. It had to be done by someone with the patience of someone in NYC waiting for a permit to carry to be approved. I think they'll look good as grip medallions.
