I usually load my range ammo a week or two before heading out to shoot. However, for every type of gun I load for, I load up about a hundred after I find my favorite load. I keep these in MTM boxes in my safe in case I ever need them. They are always the first loading in the best brand new brass, always CCI primers, and I don't scrimp on crimp for loads that benefit from a heavy taper crimp.
I have never actually used these rounds, because I always load what I shoot. I could see them staying in the safe for 5-10 years before I shoot them up and load them with fresh components.
Do you do the same thing and to what extent? Do you do anything special to these rounds (new brass, sealed primers, etc.)?
