Anyone here recall the old fasioned Barlow knife? I have been causually looking for one and I havent seen any out there. Do they still make them ? I dont need another knife, but its one of those nostalga things I suppose . If I cant find a new one I guess I will have to look around for a used one (or two)

I bought and carried a Russell barlow for a long time and really liked the knife, but it was sure prone to rust. Every time I turned around I was having to polish off some more on a blade. It is a pretty nice little pocket knife with bone scales and all, but I gave up and moved on to some others that were less maintenance. Lots of other brands out there....

Google Knife Center.
I like the Barlows also and I carry an ancient Shrade Barlow in my Sunday
'go to meetin' " pants.
Case makes some great looking Barlows.

I've bought several Barlows off of Ebay. They usually have a good selection in all price ranges.

Utica is making them again, quality is serviceable, alittle lazy on the walk and talk but nice looking knives made in the US too

or a fancy one by case (kinda hard to find Case barlows i believe the pattern is in the vault)

ive got an old utica circa 1940's that was my grandads and a kabar barlow, also a camillus barlow from the early 70's all three are great knives and a little better on the fit and finish scale than say Imperial or Colonial brands of Old
Good Luck with your Quest

Kabar is selling a nice barlow now (made by Canal Street Cutlery). Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC) has been making some really high quality barlows on special order. They have been collectively called "Charlows". They sell out pretty fast and only a few dealers sell them. Good stuff.

Knives Ship Free sells one they call the Northwoods Madison Barlow which is a large 4.25" closed length single blade barlow pattern knife. I believe a new order will be received in the coming months from GEC. I have a couple of these.

Case may still make a barlow. I haven't looked at their selection in a good while.

Think I had one of those $1.99 Imperial (?) brand versions when I was a kid. I think I wanted one after reading Tom Sawyer and probably bought it at the Western Auto hardware store back in the 60's.
They sure have gone up in price judging from the links you folks have posted...

A Case Barlow was my very first "good knife" when I was a kid. Used it for years for everything from whittling to skinning a deer. Before that, I owned a couple Imperials of varying sizes which cost about $1-$2 each at the time.

KSF mentioned above just got in some two blade Northwoods Madison barlows. Got one. Really nice. They are a hand full.

I have a Case Brothers Barlow with a spear point main blade. I really like it. No idea what happened to the Barlow I had as a kid. Classic design.

GEC makes a really nice knife for sure, no matter the pattern you choose. Queen has several lovely samples of the barlow pattern in their 2015 catalog.

I have been carrying a Craftsman brand Barlow I picked up in a flea market store for under 12 bucks. It was a little rusty add needed some tlc but it cleaned up really well for a work knife with at least 40 years on it already.

One of my favorite knives years ago was a Kabar Barlow, that is until I lost it. Tried replacing it with quite a few different knives but none were as sharp and handy to use as that Kabar.

I read an artical once by Pat Mcmannus he recomened if you find something you like, buy a lifetime supply right away. Because by the time you decide you need to replace it, they will have been discontinued, and impossible to replace!

I dig 'em.

Unfortunately, I keep giving the best ones away.

It never ceases to amaze me how many folk who previously carried a "must have" semi tactical folder are now carrying one of my old "Barlows".

These are the core of my never-give-ups. My absolute favorite is the single blade Rodgers of Sheffield.

Beautifully crisp open and close, exceptionally well made and sweetly rounded with a wonderful blade shape.

After my Barlow fascination, my appreciations move on to "electrician's knives and TL-29s... Kind of a natural evolution of Barlows.
