I like the XD. Because of it's backstrap safety, they made the trigger lighter and crisper than the Glock trigger. I sold my only Glock because I couldn't get comfortable with the mushy, heavy trigger on it.
I've found limp wristing my PM-9 will cause it to fail to go completely into battery. This is one of the really common problems I read with the Kahr -slide goes almost all the way forward, but requires a tap to get it fully forward.
Discovered this by accident after shooting a much heavier...
I carry mine in the front pocket of carpenter jeans with an Uncle Mikes Size 2.
This is a holster made for .32 pocket guns, but fits over the Kahr well and covers the trigger. If you wear tighter jeans, I think you're probably going to print without a holster that disguises the grip.
The PM-9...
Mikul, a double rifle case should fit your gun with room to spare for mags and other goodies... The Cabela's in Hamburg had these on the shelf last time I was there (about 1.5 hours from Philly).
double gun case
If that link doesn't work due to it's length, go to www.cabelas.com and you...
Natedog, I asked for the smallest, and I think you found it. Maybe I actually want the second smallest .45. :D
I'll also look into the other recommendations. This isn't going to be as easy as I hoped!
I bought the PM-9 because I had difficulty comfortably carrying a Glock 26 (double stack sub compact) in warm weather. In the interim, I've purchased a Springfield Mil Spec and that really has me itching for a smaller .45. I'll look at the Kimbers along with the other recommendations.
I went...
Thanks for a lot of leads! I have some research to do.
Wally, thanks for the picture. That really helps a ton because I have a PM-9, giving me a direct comparison to the small .45's. The Para Carry is about what I was looking for. Are you happy with yours?
Can someone give me the lowdown/links on small single stack .45's?
I did a search and came up with the Para Ordinance P-10, which has a small frame, but is a double stack. I'd much prefer a single stack gun, even if it's only 5+1.
There are a number of different companies claiming to have the...
I carried my PM-9 without a holster in the pocket of carpenter jeans a couple of times. I wasn't real comfortable with it like that, and also had the problem of the gun turning. Haven't found the ideal holster yet, but for now the PM-9 is riding in an Uncle Mikes size 2. It's intended for .380...
Very nice report!
P3AT is next on my buy list, definitely before summer, so I'll be looking for your follow up reports. I had one in my hand a little over a month ago, but opted for a PM-9. As the weather gets hotter, I might occasionally want something even smaller than the Kahr, and the P3AT...
Wardog, did you fire the PM-9 enough to break it in before sending it back?
Manual says 250 rounds for break in. Before 300 rounds, I had a couple instances of failures to feed and not go into battery.
My PM-9 is very occasionally (~150 rounds) not going fully into battery. I've been...
The thing Cabela's sells is pretty cool, but its a front projection setup that costs about 3 grand. Thats a lotta cake.
I bought an XBox just for House Of The Dead 3. Great arcade light gun game. I also just picked up Silent Scope, but haven't had a chance to play it much. There is a scoped...
Uh-oh!
Of all places that'd be sensitive to posters like that, you really have to expect it from the post office. I think the whole origin of "Going Postal" would kind of tell you hanging firearm posters, no matter how positive the message, is asking for trouble. That's no knock on USPS...
I did quite a bit of reading before buying my PM-9, and it seems like the most common break in issue on the Kahrs is the slide not returning to full battery. You can just tap the slide in into battery by hand and fire. Mine did this quite a bit.
For about the first 50 rounds, I also had the...
I like my PM-9, too. Got it with the intention of it being a "beater", and chose the stainless slide to minimize the worry of holster wear. After shooting it a few times, I liked it more than I expected and also started thinking about pimping it out a little. :D
I polished the barrel and slide...
